The truck of domestic production GAZ-66 KUNG, the dimensions of which practically do not differ from the predecessor of the 62 series, is a fairly popular car in its segment. The diesel version was in demand not only in the agricultural and construction industries, but was also actively used in the military sphere. The characteristics of the truck in question did not differ much from the parameters of its predecessor. Initially, the manufacturer mounted a ZMZ-513 carburetor type engine. The volume of the engine was 4.2 liters, the power indicator was 125 "horses". At that time (the 60s of the XX century) it was simply an excellent indicator. For example, the GAZ-66-01 modification was equipped with a centralized tire pressure monitoring system. In 1991, an updated version of the GAZ-66 KUNG was released, the dimensions inside of which remained the same. This modification received an additional index 16. The changes affectedengine. Model 66-21 has a design identical to the previous version. But this truck had dual axles, which made it possible to increase the load capacity parameter. The first diesel modification came out in 1992. She did not have supercharging, which became the main drawback, as the designers themselves claimed.
