Frankly, I went to the test drive of this car with great interest. The fact is that this car has collected in itself many interesting features that I heard about and wanted to experience, as they say, on my own skin. And, of course, share what he saw with you.

Let's start with the exterior. Many auto journalists praise her very much: "it looks stylish, beautiful forms …". I agree, but I don't understand only one thing. Why are automotive designers so lazy? See for yourself. The new Q50s is the Mazda 6! There is no originality here, no individuality. It upsets me as well as the fact that modern cars are becoming more and more similar to each other. Where are the days when the car could be safely called a work of art? It looks like they are forever in the past … Although the new Infiniti looks decent - you can't argue.

But the interior designers seemed to have heard my prayers and really did something new. When you sit inside, the first thing that catches your eye is the multimedia, or rather its screens: there are two of them. Two absolutely full screens! This has never happened before. So what are they for and why are there two? Let's try to figure it out.

Not typical, is it?

In fact, the following is obtained: the navigator and the image from the cameras are displayed on the upper screen, and the lower one is responsible for everything else. Quite an interesting solution. Was this a special meaning? I find it difficult to answer. It seems to me that it was better if the driver could choose for himself what to broadcast to the upper display and what to the lower one. For example, display music or radio "up". But such functionality, alas, is not provided. There is one more important fact. It can be seen with the naked eye that the graphics and execution of the lower main screen is much better than the upper one. Because of this, it seems that the creators of the car worked very thoroughly when creating the lower screen, and shoved the upper one so, for show. And in my opinion this is not good.

But, in addition to the screens, I want to focus specifically on the interior of this car. He's just great! Tastefully made, the materials are pleasant to the touch, the leather is beyond praise. Everywhere. Except for the steering wheel! The leather on the steering wheel is so indistinct that I don't know how to say about it and at the same time not switch to foul language. Why? Why did they do that ?! This is stupid. An imperfection that is visible, and most importantly, it is extremely simple to fix. I would like to look at the person who approved this … Moreover, the steering wheel itself is very comfortable in terms of ergonomics, it is conducive to dynamic, maybe even aggressive driving. From lock to lock just two turns, plus huge massive paddle shifters, just like the Nissan GT-R. Cool!

But for the front seats, I am ready to personally express my deep gratitude to their creators. Friends, these are the nicest everyday driving seats I've ever sat in! Not only are they finished in wonderful perforated leather (which I talked about earlier) and have lateral support, as well as a full package of adjustments (although this will not surprise anyone). They are just fantastically soft and cuddly! I don't even know how to explain it to you. When you sit down, you simply drown in them and you get the feeling that the seat gently hugs you. After that, the seats in Range Rover (and there they are very cool, believe me) seem to be "wooden". In terms of softness, the Infiniti seats are comparable to the sofas in Cadillacs of the 60s and 80s, one of which I was lucky enough to drive earlier. Now when I see an Infiniti Q50 in traffic,I am overwhelmed with a feeling of envy, because I understand how cool the driver is to sit there.

Let's move from the visible "goodies" to the internal ones. Moreover, from a mechanical point of view, the Q50s is a very non-standard car.

So what made me write about the tech stuff? After all, those who have not read my reviews for the first time are aware that I never write about numbers and "nuts-screws". Only emotions, only hardcore. But still…

First, it's a hybrid. Today it is a very fashionable word in the automotive industry. It is believed that if you have a "hybrid", then you are an ardent fighter for the environment, the best friend of polar bears, you will never cause an ecological disaster and in general you are an athlete, a Komsomol member and just a handsome man. So what is it really?

A hybrid is essentially an attempt by car makers to do more with your savings. At least they are sure of it. There is a gasoline V6 with a volume of 3.5 liters and a capacity of 298 forces, but in addition to it, there is also a motor and an electric one. The power of this unit is 57 hp. and in conjunction with a petrol friend, the car already produces 355 hp. and 628 torque, which is quite solid for a city sedan. Why does a car need two motors? The legend of marketers says that the electric motor will help you during acceleration thanks to the constant torque, as well as save your money in a traffic jam, working without the help of gasoline. This is so, but with dynamic driving you will hardly feel the real economy of priceless fuel, because the gasoline engine works as a basis, and the electric brother is "in the wings." Such a "brother for brother"feels very good when overclocked. You press the trigger on the floor, the car roars off the ground, the torque of the gasoline unit enters, and after a moment the electric motor is connected. Feeling of a double shock. As if the machine says: "Here's the power for you, but not enough - hold on a little more." But two motors are not the most interesting thing in the new Infiniti. The main difference between the Q50s and all the others lies not in speed and economy, but in handling. Have you ever seen a car in which the steering wheel and front wheels are not linked by the steering rack? That is, absolutely! No physical connection. Not? Congratulations, here he is.

So how does it work?

Infiniti has implemented a technology that seems magical at first glance. Apparently Japanese engineers have forgotten that it is forbidden to use magic outside Hogwarts. And the technology is as follows: the car has 3 sensors that read the steering angle and, through computer technology, transmit this information to the front wheels. As a result, the wheels turn without using a mechanical connection with the steering wheel. That's basically it.

The advantages of such a non-standard approach to driving a car are quite tangible. Here the natural backlash of the steering wheel disappears, even the slightest; the controls become incredibly precise. You feel like an experienced samurai with a katana in your hands. Plus, with various hummocks, of which there are plenty in our realities, you don't get any hits on the steering wheel, which has a positive effect on comfort and nervous psyche. And in conjunction with magic chairs and a completely sane suspension, you feel like a cartoon hero, joyfully jumping over soft clouds.

It all sounds cool, of course, but what bothers me is this: what happens when these magic sensors are suddenly turned off? Technology is technology, but our roads were not broken. Infiniti promises that if all three sensors fail, the steering rack (and it is still there!) Will connect in a split second and you will have completely normal control. It sounds, of course, impressive, but no one can say with precision how you will feel in these very fractions of a second. Especially at high speed, on a bumpy road, in slush. I would not dare to check it.

Verdict. The Infiniti Q50s did not disappoint me. It really turned out to be one of the most interesting cars in terms of technology, which I had a chance to drive. It is curious how all this will work in our harsh conditions, when the mileage exceeds 30 thousand kilometers? After all, as Audi correctly noted in its advertising: "Russia. The territory of quattro". Moreover, the "quattro" of the UAZ.
