From the side, the new Sonata resembles a 7-ka Audi, the stern refers us to the Vikings of Sweden, and the front end resembles the same Germans. Although, in general, such a car looks very advantageous and even somewhat bold. It is radically different from the previous generation, but this is still the same Asian, whatever one may say. Although, I'm not sure if the designers planned to draw something else.
The DRL line is connected to a chrome strip and this is visible, but not desirable. Since we already live in the age of high technologies, then it could be applied here as well. But, the manufacturer says, they say, at a time when the car is not turned on, it will be just chrome. HM interesting.

The Lexus UX already had something similar, but if you don't think about what it looks like and where the idea is taken from, it looks very cool. We don't really know what the Hyundai designers were inspired by.

The dashboard is 12.3 inches. It displays information from the side cameras - at the moment when the driver turned on the turn signal, an image of the side where the maneuver is being performed appears on the tidy. This is how the blind spot monitoring function is implemented. Well, I will not say anything about the standard data, everything is like everyone else. I almost forgot that the navigator can also be brought to the tidy. In general, she is fully engaged, not a minute of rest for her.
In the central part it has spread its 10.25 inches HD-display. Music, navigation again, car menus and much more - it's all here. Its main difference from its predecessor is the normal speed of reaction to touches, and the system itself has been redesigned. By the way, this is only available for the Business and Prestige configurations, the rest are equipped with an 8”screen with the ability to support Apple and Android devices.
As for the music, since I have already mentioned it, it is worth mentioning the manufacturer - BOSE.
The car is equipped with 12 speakers, called premium sound. But this privilege applies only to those who paid for bundles with a large screen.
The important thing about all this multimedia is the ability to connect to two phones at the same time. One for the music, the other for chatting is an option. And vice versa.
We even made a comfortable backlight - nice.
Below all screens, there is a dual-zone climate control. Tellingly, it remains 2-zone in any configuration that is available today. I am sure that from 2020 there will be an opportunity to deliver a single-zone version. As for the execution, then everything is expectedly good. Nice buttons, knobs, display.
An innovation in this car is the automatic transmission control panel - Shift by Wire. Saving space, compared to the classic lever, well, it looks impressive. It feels like a large computer mouse at hand, you just have to get used to working with it.
In general, there are no complaints about the cabin. Everything is conveniently controlled, in some places even in automatic mode. The landing is pleasant and comfortable. Enough space both in the front and in the back.
The difference from the previous generation is not only in the design of the exterior and interior. Cars differ in platforms and sizes. The new third generation modular platform is larger than the previous one. When we say modular, it means that it is designed not only for traditional internal combustion engines. You can make a hybrid or a hydrogen version, but not here. The wheelbase has increased by 3.5 cm, and the length of the car has grown by 4.5 cm. The engine, hood, roof and seat of passengers have become lower. All this influenced the shift of the center of gravity, it is now also lower. The body of the new Sonata has lost 24 kilograms, but this did not make it more vulnerable in an accident. On the contrary, it passes the tests with brilliance.
We were shown a car that was tested for the severity of side and front impact damage. Everything took place in strict accordance with the rules during such tests. The result cannot but rejoice: the experimental Sonata was able to dress the doors from another car, they open and close. The back is not as easy as the front, but you can close it. All this suggests that damage to the threshold and strut is minimal.
The rust did not come from the factory. After the crash test, the car was parked on the street for a long time. The doors from another car were installed later.
The new power structure was created for greater passenger safety and taking into account the high requirements of crash tests. The parts for this structure are hot formed from high strength steel.
In a collision, it distributes the impact energy in three directions. In a frontal impact with a small overlap, the car will not turn around, but must move. There is something to praise Hyundai for.
In addition to all the innovations in the body structure, a huge set of electronic assistants awaits us.
And now for the fun part: units and prices.
Everything is simple here. Until 2020, only one engine will be presented on our market - 2.5MPi with the code name G4KM, with 180 hp. and owned by the Smartstream family.
According to the manufacturer, this motor has nothing to do with the 2.4 engine. Plus, it is capable of absorbing "ninety-second" gasoline.
In the new year, the good old 2-liter unit will be available to us, with all the familiar 150 horsepower.
The gearbox has not changed either; only a 6-speed automatic with all motors is supplied to our market. It remains to be hoped that at least the software will be changed for it.
At prices. Owning a new Sonata will cost a minimum of 1,725,000 rubles . This is subject to ordering a car via the Internet, from the company's official website. The choice will be from vehicles available.
The most expensive Sonata today costs 2'049'000 rubles . This is 114'000 rubles more expensive than the top-end Sonata in the previous body. Yes, 100 thousand are not lying on the road, but the difference between these cars is colossal.
