The Zaporozhye Automobile Plant has stopped producing cars of its own design for a long time. The last original model was the ZAZ-1103 "Slavuta", which was discontinued in 2011. Nevertheless, some designers are making attempts to "resurrect" the domestic auto industry. Unfortunately, so far only on computer monitors.
LED optics - the latest in automotive fashion
I invite you to familiarize yourself with the interesting work of Askaniadesign Carstyling Studio. Young guys drew a conceptual project of the ideological successor of the legendary Zaporozhets ZAZ-965, popularly known as the "hunchback".
The taillights are similar to the heavily upscaled headlights of the original 965
Such rollers with low-profile tires are clearly not for our roads
The author of the design of the "humpback" of the 21st century was Sergey Chumachenko, who drew sketches on this topic for a long time, and recently modified them in accordance with the new tendencies of the world auto design (the first 3 drawings).
Early sketches of the prototype
Moreover, this is not even a hatchback, but a 3-door mini-crossover, which is more in line with modern trends in the automotive world. The final version of the car is as close as possible to a conventional model for public roads. But in the early drawings (below), the prototype looks much more futuristic, especially for wheels and optics.
Let me remind you that the original ZAZ-965 had a rear-engine layout and drive, respectively, to the rear wheels, while its "grandson", according to the idea, should have a front-engine layout.
Project idea - compact urban crossover
The project is positioned as an inexpensive B-class youth crossover, which, in theory, could compete with such cars as Nissan Juke, Opek Mokka, Peugeot 2008. runabout.
Would you buy a ZAZ-branded crossover with such an unusual design a la "humpback" ?
