An important part of a modern engine is the idle valve. Out of ignorance, many motorists may often refer to it as an idle speed sensor. In domestic VAZ cars, this device is called an idle speed regulator, in GAS - an additional air regulator, and in carburetor engines - an electro-pneumatic valve.

The idle air valve performs the following function: it supplies additional air to the intake manifold bypassing the throttle valve, which helps to keep the engine idle speed within the limits specified by the design by the manufacturer. Idling valves may be different in design and execution, depending on the type of engine and car brand, but the function they perform is unchanged. So, for example, the idle solenoid valve, based on a variety of sensor readings, is put into operation using an electronic control unit.

The car owner should know that for optimal performance, it is necessary to observe notonly the cleanliness of the car interior and body, but also periodically clean and rinse certain mechanisms. For example, in order to achieve stable idling, as well as easy and, no less important, smooth starting of the car, even in winter frosts, it is necessary to periodically flush the idle valve.

The pleasant effect of the procedure will be immediate. Naturally, it is better to do this work with specialists. But if you have perfectly studied the device of your car, and you know firsthand where the idle valve is located, you can perform this procedure yourself, thereby also saving money. Especially since for this job you only need a set of screwdrivers, sealant, WD-40 and free time.

After you have correctly located the idle valve, disconnect the air duct and other connectors from it. Then unscrew the mounting bolts. There is a gasket between the intake manifold and the valve, put it in a safe place so as not to lose it, like the bolts.

Next, proceed to disassemble the idle valve.

But you need to do this very carefully, because in the design, in addition to the idle valve itself, there may be “auxiliary” valves, which are often small and spring-loaded, and look for a dropped small spring somewhere - occupation is not pleasant. In general, in the whole structure there are a lotsmall parts, these are small copper washers, and a rubber seal, etc. Therefore, the entire procedure should be performed very carefully to avoid unwanted loss of important and necessary details.

After parsing “for spare parts”, everything must be thoroughly rinsed with “VDshka” or any other liquid with similar properties. You can start assembling the mechanism. Motorists advise the junction of the valve and the metal gasket (housing) to be smeared on both sides with sealant. Only without fanaticism, since the gaps there are very small. Next, screw the idle valve into place, connect all the connectors, if necessary, do not forget to adjust the idle speed.
