The peculiarity of driving a KamAZ car is that it has a gearbox, which requires additional knowledge and skills to operate. Features of driving on slopes and icy roads

On steep descents, it is forbidden to turn off the engine. This may cause the vehicle's steering wheel to lock up as the electric power steering is not active. The brake system of the machine has a double reinforcement - in addition to engine braking, there is an auxiliary engine stop system. When driving on slopes with active auxiliary braking, it is forbidden to disengage the clutch and change gears. So, the KamAZ gearbox scheme on transmissions of the ZF and DT models is performed in an unconventional form. For example, it is possible to distribute the load on the active parts of the transmission as much as possible. This makes it possible to descend the slope without harming the engine (even at maximum load).

Movement on a slippery track is carried out with a maximum power reserve andspeed. Braking must be done with the auxiliary engine stop system active. During emergency braking, the trailer wheels are stopped first. This is important to consider in order to avoid skidding a car. In exceptional cases, you can slow down the engine (this harms the motor, but the length of the braking distance is significantly reduced). Also, the wheels must not be allowed to slip. To do this, it is necessary to engage a lower gear in time, thereby reducing the frequency of rotation of the crankshaft relative to the transmission.

The basic rule is not to disengage the clutch if the car is off course. The gearshift scheme of KamAZ on a mechanical transmission of the DT model is performed in such a way that it allows you to move with a maximum power reserve.
