Flying motorcycle - a new miracle of technology

Every year, incredible technical inventions bring people closer to the fantasy world. Now Star Wars fans can rejoice. Solo flight became possible thanks to the creation of a flying motorcycle.

The new miracle of technology was talked about back in 2011, but then the flying motorcycle was far from its perfect real incarnation. But now this is not just a sky-high fantasy of the futurists, but a real breakthrough in science, overcoming the earth's gravity!

History of Creation

The idea of flying personal vehicles originated in the last century and was found only in science fiction novels and films. However, in 2011, the American company Aerofex shared the news about the invention of the miracle device Aero-X, which is capable of moving through the air at a height of up to five meters. The author of the development was the Australian engineer Chris Malloy. To begin with, he created a prototype - a smaller version of an aircraft that carried certain objects (a glass of water, for example).

According to its technical structure, a flying motorcyclerepresents a mixture of a helicopter and a motorcycle. Instead of wheels, the new transport has propellers with carbon blades, due to the rotation of which the device rises into the air. From the motorcycle, the novelty got the controls and the engine. This is how the world's first flying motorcycle was born, also called the Hoverbike.

Features

Free movement in space to the new aircraft is provided by two four-stroke engines with a power of 80 kW. To create traction, screws are attached to each of them. Such characteristics allow a flying motorcycle to rise to a height of about three kilometers and move at a speed of more than 200 km / h. According to the inventor Malloy himself, such a height is not needed in the use of Hoverbike. Enough and 2-5 meters above the ground.

The flying motorcycle runs on gasoline. The duration of the flight with a full tank is about an hour. According to the developer's calculations, 30 liters will be enough for 150 km. The option of using an electric drive is also being considered. For safety reasons, the flying vehicle is equipped with two parachutes.

Chinese design

In January, an international electronics exhibition (CES-2016) was held in Las Vegas, where Chinese developers presented an analogue of a flying motorcycle, called the EHang 184. Its main advantage, according to the engineers themselves, is the absence of the need for a special license to control the aircraft. It obeys two main commands: “takeoff” and “landing”, like a drone. These commandstransmitted using a tablet. The weight of the technical novelty is approximately 200 kg.

Maximum flight altitude reaches three and a half kilometers. The device operates on an electric drive and four pairs of screws. After a two-hour charge, staying in the air is possible for 23 minutes at speeds up to 100 km/h. The Chinese flying motorcycle has an enclosed cockpit with air conditioning and a lamp. Transport is designed for one person, it is possible to move small luggage.

The author of the project Darrick Xiong claims that the flying motorcycle is safe to use. Even with serious damage, the fasteners and screws will ensure a soft landing of the device.

Mass production

The Chinese quadcopter was positively received and approved at the international exhibition in Las Vegas, which was the impetus for the idea of its mass production. Developers from China claim that the device has been successfully tested and is quite ready for implementation. It is not yet known when the Chinese flying motorcycle will go on sale. Its price will be approximately 200-300 thousand dollars.

Hungarian version

The development of a flying motorcycle did not pass by the Hungarian engineers from Bay Zoltan, who created their own version of the Flike Tricopter. The novelty was presented at the extreme sports exhibition in Dubai.

The Hungarian flying motorcycle is lifted into the air by electric motors and three pairs of carbon fiber propellers. The weight of the device reaches 250 kg. The maximum speed is 100 km / h at a height of up to 30 meters. The speed is adjusted independently by changing the operation of one of the screws. A full charge lasts for 40 minutes at an average speed of the device.

The tricopter will go on sale in early 2017. According to preliminary data, its price will be 200 thousand dollars.

Destination

A flying motorcycle can be used not only as a means of transportation or a demonstration of financial status, but also for higher purposes. According to the developers themselves, the ease of control, modest dimensions and maneuverability of flying motorcycles make it possible to use them in rescue operations, fire fighting, when searching for people, for video surveillance and border patrols.

US testing

The pioneering developers Aerofex continue to improve their flying motorcycle models. Today they are conducting tests in the desert areas of the United States. Engineers received a government order and plan to use this invention for the military equipment of the American army. Serial production is scheduled for 2017. One device will cost about 85 thousand dollars. This is the most cost-effective offer in the tech market so far.

In the meantime, engineer Chris Malloy's company has begun selling smaller models. Their cost ranges from 1000 to 1600 dollars. The main functions of flying motorcycles are aerial photography and small cargo delivery.
