Work on the creation of the diesel locomotive TGM6A began in the 60s of the last century at the plant in Lyudinovo. Four-axle vehicles were designed for the use of different diesel power units and coupling masses. When developing the locomotive, well-proven components and parts from the TEZ and TGMZ versions were used. The first copy was released in 1966, equipped with a 6D-70 diesel power unit. Serial production

TGM-5 locomotives were produced as prototypes for the Ministry of Railways, TGM6 models were mass-produced from 1969 to 1973. An experimental modification of the diesel locomotive TGM6A was made in 1970. This machine is a modernized version of its predecessor, has an increased length along the axes of the coupling mechanisms up to 14.3 meters, redesigned equipment placement, and a device for unloading dump cars. These locomotives went into series production in 1975, production continued until 1985

The cab of the bonnet type locomotive is placed on a frame body, equipped with rubber gaskets, fixed with bolts. Also on this node there is a pair of longitudinal beams of the spinal configuration. In the lower part of the frame, two pins are welded, which serve to transform the traction and braking forces on the body from the bogies. Models of the Ural Carriage Works are used as automatic couplers. Compared to analogues of the CA-3 type, they guarantee a better adhesion parameter, and also fit well when passing curves of small radius in plan and track profile.

The emphasis for the frame is a pair of two-axle bogies that interact with the body with the help of side supports. Bogie bodies are of welded type, sidewalls are aggregated with each other by means of pivot and end beams. The role of the stops is played by balancers in the form of helical springs. These elements, in turn, are based on leaf springs and special suspensions like TEZ modifications. The balancers lie on jaw boxes with roller bearings. The size of the wheels in diameter is 1050 millimeters in a skating circle. Brake pads work on all pairs one-sidedly. Compressed air masses are supplied to the brake cylinders through an air distributor, which is controlled by the driver's crane or the auxiliary brake system.

Power plant

Diesel locomotive TGM6A is equipped withfour-stroke V-shaped diesel engine 3A-6D49 supercharged. The cylinders are 26 centimeters in diameter. Other powertrain features:

  • movement of the main connecting rod - 260 mm;
  • travel of trailed analogue - 257.5 mm;
  • rated power indicator - 1200 "horses";
  • minimum idle shaft speed - 400 rpm;
  • estimated fuel consumption - 150 g (e.h.s.h);
  • start type - starter;
  • cooling - dual circuit liquid system;
  • motor weight - 9, 6 tons.

With wheel sets, the engine aggregates with the help of a unified transmission, cardan shafts, two-stage gearboxes. The mechanism of this unit was developed by specialists of the Kaluga Machine Plant. Shafts and hydraulic transmissions are connected by an elastic coupling with rubber tips. The hydraulic transmission includes a pair of TP-1000M transformers, a hydraulic coupling, and a sequential equipment cooling mechanism. Switching modes is carried out automatically using hydraulics.

Features

The hydraulic transmission of the shunting diesel locomotive TGM6A has the following parameters:

  • between transformer and intermediate element – 58/35;
  • near the shafts of the additional and output type (shunting mode) - 73/24, 58/39 (train range);
  • axial bevel gearboxes with spur gear and total working number 4, 24;

  • nominal hydraulic drive - 1350 rpm.

A V-shaped compressor with two cylinders and a pair of working stages is mounted on the locomotive under consideration. An analogue with three high and the same low pressure cylinders can also be installed. The performance of the units is 3.5 or 5.25 m3/min. The drive of the specified equipment is hydrodynamic. In the electrical circuit of the locomotive TGM6A, a direct current generator KG with a power of 5 kW, a voltage of 75 V is used. It is driven by a diesel engine through a gearbox, serves to charge batteries and power control circuits.

Modifications

The shunting diesel locomotive TGM6A No 1340 has several improved versions. The TGM-6V locomotive began to be produced in 1989. The upgraded version has an increased efficiency parameter, as well as a 25% increased resource before overhaul. Such features are due to the use of a modernized power unit with a rotation speed in the range of 350-950 rpm. In addition, an advanced hydraulic transmission with integrated compressor clutch has been introduced.

Among other differences from its predecessor, there is a change in the compressor drive, which is driven by a variable filling fluid coupling. It is responsible for automatically turning the unit on and off, depending on the pressure level in the main tanks. The pipe under the compressor is bolted to four elements. After alignment, the specified assembly is attached using welding and pins.

Model TGM6D

Another modification of the TGM6A shunting diesel locomotive is equipped with a chassis, which includes a pair of two-axle jawless carts in its design. This configuration provides good aerodynamics and the passage of curves of particularly small radius. Axle gearboxes are connected by means of cardan shafts and an output hydraulic transmission shaft.

The brakes are equipped with a pneumatic direct-acting system, pressing the pads is manifested on both sides. The compressed air drying unit is responsible for the reliability of the assembly. Maintenance and safety

The body part of the engine room is equipped with double-leafdoors, hatches and removable roof parts. These elements provide free access for maintenance and repair of the diesel locomotive TGM6A in an improved version (TGM6D). The driver's workplace is organized taking into account the increased sanitary requirements, including the level of noise and vibration. Additional security is provided by the vigilance system. The locomotive can be controlled from either side of the cab, indicated by special signaling devices. Several versions of diesel engines act as power units.
