KDM based on KamAZ-65115, main variants

Currently, the so-called KDM (combined road machine) type machines, which are built on the basis of a bare truck chassis or placed directly in a standard serial flatbed or folding body, have become popular for road cleaning. The advantage of this technique is its versatility, which eliminates machine downtime during different seasons. All communal vehicles can be used as a means of extinguishing fires (for example, in forested areas).

General data

The main chassis for the creation of such machines were the trucks of the Kama plant and the Likhachev plant. After the cessation of production of ZIL vehicles, the Tatar truck became the main domestic chassis for large municipal vehicles.

KAMAZ-based KDM is created on the basis of a conventional truck chassis with an extended dump body and is intended for cleaning and maintaining the surface of paved roads at any time of the year. To do this, the machine is equipped with all the necessary equipment, the control of which is displayed onseparate control panel located in the driver's cab. The production of such installations is carried out at the enterprise PK "Yaroslavich", Mtsensk and Arzamas plants "Kommash" and a number of other enterprises. In the manufacture of KDM based on KamAZ-65115, the main engine and transmission of the machine remain unchanged. The truck uses a 280-horsepower eight-cylinder diesel engine and a manual transmission.

Yaroslavsky variant

The main unit of the Yaroslavich development machine, model KDM-7615, is the mixture spreader, which is installed directly on the floor of the folding body. Since mixtures are made on the basis of various s alts, the spreader body must be resistant to their effects. Therefore, it is made of sufficiently thick (about 3 mm) stainless steel sheet. The increase in the cost of the design is compensated by the long service life of the product. The internal volume of the mix hopper on the KamAZ-based KDM is about 8.3 cubic meters.

Optionally, the hopper can be made of ordinary steel and covered with a special polyurethane-based paint. This design is slightly inferior in corrosion resistance to that described above, but it is much cheaper. At the same time, the spreading unit is still made of stainless steel.

In the summer, the machine can be used for washing roads and cleaning them with special brushes that are included in the equipment. The water supply is stored in plastic removable tanks and is up to 10,000 liters. Maximum distance of water supply - up to 18meters.

Cars from Arzamas

This type of machine is designated KO-829B and is made on the chassis 65115. All equipment is attached to the car frame through a special subframe. It consists of a tank for 14,000 liters of water, two additional plastic tanks of 6,000 liters each and a mixture hopper that can hold up to 9.5 cubic meters of sand. Optionally, humidification system tanks can be installed, which can hold 2080 liters of liquid. All important elements of the sand spreading system are made of stainless steel.

The maximum weight of the installation reaches 25 tons. Despite this, the dynamic and technical characteristics of the KDM based on KamAZ-65115 remain at a level that is quite acceptable for the urban rhythm of traffic. For example, the spread width of the mixture reaches 10 meters, which is sufficient to cover most roads in one pass of the machine. At the same time, washing can be carried out at a distance of up to 20 meters from the car, which makes it possible to clean sidewalks and building facades.

Mtsensk variant of KDM

This machine is designated KO-823 and can be produced in several versions. Depending on the variant, the chassis is fitted with equipment for:

• Spreading sand.
• Watering the road.
• Cleaning the road surface with a plow and brush.

A feature of the KO-823 machine is a special drive of the brush assembly, which dampens vertical oscillations that occurfrom uneven road surfaces.
