ZIL 114 is a luxury car produced in the USSR in the 60s and 70s. Its distinctive feature was an elongated body, which could accommodate up to 7 people. At one time, ZIL 114 transported all the highest ranks of the USSR and was the most prestigious car in the country.
For the first time this car was born in 1967. It was a completely new limousine, which had no analogues in the whole world. The design of the machine used a new X-shaped frame of bulk spars.
Design
Outwardly ZIL 114 had a long and elongated appearance. And even now, its design cannot be called outdated. The new Soviet limousine was striking in its dimensions. It was over 6.3 meters long, 2.06 meters wide and 1.54 meters high. Because of its enormity, ZIL looked very impressive and brutal.
The grille is reminiscent of the contours of a Rolls-Royce, and the rear of the car has similar features to American cars from the 60s. The roof is flat, the body pillars are tilted at 90 ° C. The headlights are designed in a purely American style. On the sides of the limousine is decorated with a solid chrome line with blackinserts. The machine speaks without words about its seriousness and significance.
Salon
Special attention in the development of ZIL was given to comfort. In this regard, the length of the body was increased to more than six meters. Inside is very spacious and comfortable.
Looking at the photo, we can unconditionally say that only high-quality finishing materials were used in the interior. The front panel of the car along the entire perimeter is even, without bends. There is a small clock in the middle. The two-spoke steering wheel, by the way, was also made in the American style. At the top there are two massive sun visors, and between them is a saloon rear-view glass. For the comfort of passengers, there is air conditioning, adjustable armrests and a radio tape recorder, which was tuned with a special control panel mounted in the armrest. Remarkably, the driver himself was given so little space that he did not have enough space to get out of the cabin - he had to recline the steering column. And this is in the 114th ZIL, with its six-meter length!
Specifications
Under the hood of the limousine housed a huge 8-cylinder gasoline engine. ZIL had a motor that equaled as much as 300 horsepower. An automatic transmission was provided as a transmission, which was developed specifically for the ZIL 114 model. The maximum speed of the limousine was 190 kilometers per hour. Acceleration to "hundreds" was just over 13 seconds. At the same time, a luxury car consumed up to two dozenliters of fuel.
How much can you buy a Soviet ZIL 114 for?
It was simply impossible to buy such a limousine in the USSR. It was a service car, and was not for sale next to the Zhiguli and Niva. However, times have changed, and now such a ZIL can be purchased for 2.5-3 million rubles. Recently, an advertisement appeared on the Internet for the sale of ZIL, which belonged to Brezhnev. Priced at 10 million rubles. True or not, we do not know, but what he is, it is a fact.

In the spring of 1936, two cars drove into the courtyard of the Moscow Kremlin, their appearance reminiscent of the American Buick and Packard in one bottle.
