In order to be sure of the safety of travel, you should always monitor the condition of the brake system of your car. And one of its main components are brake pads. The replacement of these spare parts on all modern cars, both domestic and foreign, should be carried out after every ten thousand kilometers.

Otherwise, the level of travel safety will drop to zero. Today we will talk about the condition of this spare part and how to replace it yourself.

What quality brake pads should be?

These parts are replaced only when the car, when you press the brake pedal, starts to squeal and make a terrible creak. This indicates a poor-quality state of the friction material - the main component of this part. If such signs are not observed, and the car has a perfectly acceptable braking distance, this indicates that the replacement of brake pads (Nissan or VAZ - it doesn’t matter) is not required. But still, after a while, the vehicle starts to slow down badly, a rattle appears andother troubles. In this case, you need to immediately repair the car.

Is it possible to replace the rear brake pads (VAZ) with your own hands?

As you know, domestic cars are famous for their ease of operation (they can be repaired even in the field), but you can change this spare part with your own hands not only for VAZ owners, but also for owners of foreign cars, and it doesn’t matter what age this or that car is.

Tools

So, in order to make this repair, you need to prepare a jack, spray can, tongs, and a steel drift of 6-8 centimeters. Only with such a set of tools you can change the brake pads yourself. Replacement is carried out in several stages. We will analyze each of them:

First you need to put the car on a flat and dry surface (the main thing is that it is not a flyover) and use a jack to raise the car a few centimeters so that the tire does not come into contact with the road surface. Then you need to take the balloon wrench and unscrew the bolts on the wheel. In this case, do not forget that the vehicle must be on the handbrake or in gear. In the case of an automatic transmission, move the gearshift lever to the "P" position. Otherwise, the car will move off the jack and possibly roll down (this is why you need to choose a predominantly flat surface). Then, using a brush, you need to clean the caliper from the dirt accumulated during the operation of the car and unscrew the bolts that secure the padsbrake.

Replacing this part does not end there. Before removing it, you need to drain some brake fluid (preferably in a 100 ml syringe). After installing new pads, it should be poured back in the same amount.

New parts should be treated with graphite grease and only then installed in the car. Installation is in reverse order.
