What is it for?

The radiator is connected to the engine lubrication system through rubber hoses secured with clamps. To remove the device, you will need a 12 wrench and a minus screwdriver.

So let's get to work. First, unscrew the radiator grille and four bolts securing the heat exchanger shield. Next, unscrew the side shield with an open-end wrench. Both elementstake it out and put it in a dry place.

Next, unscrew the two bolts that secure the oil cooler. UAZ continues to stand still. Next, remove the heat exchanger from the seat. To finally remove the radiator, we proceed to disassemble the hoses. We need a minus screwdriver. We unscrew the clamps - first the top, then the bottom. Next, remove the tubes from the system. We take out the heat exchanger assembly. The installation process of the element is carried out in the reverse order. In terms of time, the entire operation takes from 15 to 30 minutes.

When dismantling the element, it is worth considering that the oil temperature in working condition is about 90 degrees.

Therefore, we do the work strictly on a cooled motor. If time does not allow, we perform the procedure in fabric gloves. Also pay attention to the moment of removing the hoses. They may leak oil. To prevent leakage, keep the hoses as high as possible when dismantling.

Can the radiator be repaired?

Holes can be soldered. However, experts note that it is not worth doing repairs on an oil cooler. The repair site may leak again.
