The navigation system RNS 315 is designed to be installed in a vehicle. It can also be installed in a new car. All functions are shown on the color display. Important system keys are located along the edges of the screen.
Device overview

There is an output of climate control information and readings of parking sensors on the display. Navigation software is chosen directly by the user if there is no pre-installed by the manufacturer.
In the device, the CD drive is located at the top of the device, on both sides of which there are control buttons. To the left and right of the center display, there are function keys for easy navigation between the main options of the radio navigation system. On the right are Radio, Media, Phone, on the left are Nav, TMC andSetup. There is a slot for inserting a memory card next to the screen.

At the bottom of the device there is a rotary button for controlling the power of the device, a rotary button for moving through the menu options with two additional keys, an AUX jack and a button to return to the previous menu.
The power button also serves to adjust the volume of the audio source being played. The Radio key turns on the radio mode and switches the frequency bands. Media in RNS 315 launches the last used playback device or activates a new one. Phone - if pressed, the volume of the device being played will be muted. The function is active if you are prepared to use a mobile phone. The Nav key is for activating the navigation system. TMC displays downloaded traffic messages. Setup allows you to configure each option individually.
Setup mode key
This button has a very wide range of actions. In the supplied instructions for the RNS 315, the Setup function is described first of all, as it is the most important option in managing the device. It is involved in sound, system, radio settings, traffic announcement, screen, media and navigation settings.
When you press Setup and select the "Sound" function, you can adjust the sound volume, balance between sides, adjust the equalizer and surround sound. By selecting the "System" function, you will open access tolanguage menu, text entry key layout, screen settings, SD card status information and safe removal.
In Radio mode, the Setup key turns on/off the TMC function, and also sets the source for selecting radio stations using the "Search" button.
In the screen settings, the brightness is adjusted, the image for night and day, the confirmation sound tone of the buttons is turned on.
In Media Setup mode, allows you to activate Bluetooth, control AUX and MIDI volume.
When the "Navigation" option is activated, the mode key gives access to the management of navigation functions: route setting and its criteria, voice guidance volume, map zoom, etc.
Radio mode key
This mode in the RNS 315 navigation system allows you to select broadcast stations from a list or search for new ones, change broadcast stations from the contents of the station memory, or perform manual tuning.
The Scan function is immediately available. It activates automatic playback in the listening frequency band. By pressing the "Tools" button and selecting the "Scan" function, playback will start, always for about 5 seconds, of all available radio stations in the order in which they are reserved in the list of stations. In order to end automatic playback, you must click on "Scan" again. The frequency at which the scan was stopped will be fixed.
Also in thismode, the function of turning on / off messages about the traffic situation is available. By selecting the Extras function, a pop-up window with the designation TP will appear, activating which will start the message function.
TMC key
TMC launches images of traffic announcements. This function is used during targeting to optimize the route in cases where there are traffic complications.
In the detail view, it is possible to use the function selection keys to step through all received problem messages.
Their appearance is displayed on the map with certain symbols and colors. Difficulty in the direction of travel is shown in red, and traffic in the opposite direction is shown in grey.
Please note that traffic reports will only be evaluated and downloaded by the RNS 315 if navigation data (SD or CD) is available for the area being traveled.
The correctness of dynamic targeting depends on the transport editions of broadcasting stations.
Media mode button
This option allows you to manage playback sources, including the last played one. It switches between CDs, SD card, AUX, MIDI or Bluetooth-Audio.
Also, in Media mode, there is an Audio menu, in which the button is available."Tools". When pressed, it allows you to start playing in random order (Mix), from the beginning of the songs (Scan), you can repeat one song or the entire catalog as a whole, and "Select" makes it possible to start a musical composition manually at the user's choice.
Please note that there are certain media requirements for MP3 and WMA music files. So, compact discs (CD, CD-R, CD-RW) must be up to 700 MB. The RNS 315 navigation system recognizes SD and MMC cards up to 4 GB and SDHC cards up to 32 GB.
Nav mode button
The navigation function of the RNS 315 will be available by downloading the software from the navigation CD. Such data needs to be updated regularly due to constantly changing road conditions.
In Nav mode, there is a main menu where buttons such as:
- "Address" - allows you to enter the address of the final destination of the route.
- "Point Memory" - opens downloaded destinations.
- "Recent Addresses" - Reveals recent destinations.
- "Gas Station" - shows the nearest petrol stations.
- "Parking lots" - nearest parking lots.
- "Special Destination" - opens the search bar for a special destination.
Also in this mode, it is possible to enter a flag target by activating the function button "Destination "flag". This "Destination …"you can always rename it later.
It is possible to conduct dynamic targeting by successively pressing the keys Setup - "Settings for laying a route" - "Dynamic. laying a route".
