We will not describe in detail the general structure of the scooter, let's start right away with the motor. Everyone knows that for the operation of an internal combustion engine, three components are needed: an ignition spark, fuel supply and compression in the cylinder. And since there are no miracles in technology, you should start by checking precisely these three elements. These are the so-called "typical" problems.
Why the scooter won't start: step-by-step diagnostics
1. Ignition system. Diagnostics begins with checking the candle. It should be unscrewed and inspect the condition of the electrodes. The presence of melting or damage to the insulator clearly indicates the need to replace the candle. Often, when it is examined, carbon deposits are found on the electrodes. It can also cause the spark to disappear. It is recommended to carefully remove carbon deposits from the contacts with an emery cloth and check the gap between the electrodes.
The reason for the disappearance of the spark can also be the "bay" of the candle. If, when removing the part, it turned out to be wet, then it should be dried well and inserted back into the cap. After that, you need to check for a spark. To do this, the scooter turns on the ignition, the candle is applied to the cylinder with the lower electrode or threaded part and the crankshaft is scrolled. If a spark jumps between the electrodes, the part is working.
Important! Check the candle for the presence of a spark in special rubber gloves. Keep it away from the hole in the head. Otherwise, the gasoline vapors coming out of it may ignite.
2. Supply system. There is a spark, but the scooter does not start? Checking the fuel supply. There can be two reasons: either it is not served at all, or it is served in excess. Diagnostics should begin with a gas tank, gradually passing through the entire power system. If the fuel cock and fuel lines are clean, then proceed to the carburetor. It must be carefully removed, disassembled and thoroughly washed. One note! Never try to blow through carburetor jets with your mouth. The smallest droplets of moisture will create even more problems than the accumulated dirt!
3. Compression. If no problems were identified with the electrics and the power system during the diagnostics, but the scooter still does not start, what should I do next? Now the piston group will be checked. If it is working properly, when the piston moves to top dead center, a certain pressure should be created in the cylinder. It can be checkedspecial compression gauge. If the indicators on the device are below the parameters set for your type of engine, then replacement of the compression rings is required. And this is a major overhaul of the engine.
Scooter won't start: abnormal reasons
Modern scooters can be started both from the button and from the kickstarter (from the "legs"). There is such a situation that the engine does not start in the first way, and in the second it starts with half a turn. In this case, check the main fuse. It is located in the battery compartment. Most often, a faulty fuse takes over the voltage, and the battery does not have enough power to start the engine. The fuse needs to be replaced.
The second abnormal reason that the scooter does not start may be old fuel in the gas tank. It is unnecessary to talk about the quality of our gasoline. Try draining the remaining fuel in the tank and replacing it with new fuel.
And one more piece of advice in conclusion: if you doubt your ability to figure out the causes of a malfunction on your own, don't risk it. Not everything is known in practice! Better contact the experts. After all, the failure of factory settings can also cause engine failure.
