Cargo scooter appeared back in the fifties of the last century in Italy. Piaggio Ape-model is considered its ancestor.

Twenty years later, cargo scooters with a cab have become widespread in India. They were produced under an Italian license by the local company Bajaj. Literally ten years later, in almost all countries of the East Asian region, one could meet a cargo scooter, which was used as a delivery pickup truck. In those years, it was maximally unified with such a traditional means of transportation as a rickshaw, located in a niche between ordinary four-wheeled taxis and bicycles. In such multi-million cities of the region as Calcutta, Delhi, Mubai, Bangkok, etc., a cargo scooter was an excellent solution for transportation. Its low price and low taxes, combined with relative economy and maneuverability, also contributed to its popularity.

Description

A cargo scooter is traditionally equipped with an onboarda body on which the possibility of installing an awning is provided. In the eighties of the last century in the USSR, such a model as the "Ant" was the most popular. However, with mass motorization in the Russian Federation in the nineties, it quickly disappeared not only from cities, but also from rural areas. Modern models have a carrying capacity of no more than three hundred kilograms, although for some it reaches up to seven hundred. Fuel consumption ranges from three to seven and a half liters for every hundred kilometers, depending on the type of engine. A cargo scooter has three wheels, and the rear of them is driven in the same way as in cars - through a differential. Some modern models are equipped with a closed blind cab, designed for the driver and two passengers in the back seat. However, this is not yet a reason to classify the vehicle as a small car, since a cargo scooter has a frame and a common arrangement for mechanisms in their typical layout. His engine is a two- or four-stroke injection or carburetor, but the scope of the latter is currently very narrowed. This is explained by the tightening of environmental requirements in the countries that are members of the European Union. Cargo scooters must be registered and undergo an annual inspection. To drive them, you need a driver's license with category A.

Domestic models

Even in Soviet times, the conveyor production of the very first cargo scooters was mastered and established in the country. "Tula" and "Vyatka" were created on the basis ofcutting-edge technology for the time. They had sprung independent wheel suspensions. Their layout was designed to create some comfort for both the driver and the passenger. In addition, the Tula cargo scooter was equipped with an electric starter. Both models had forced-cooled two-stroke engines.

Chinese models

Three-wheeled vehicles, including a cargo scooter, are in great demand in China. In China, their production is constantly expanding, new lines are being introduced, designs are being modernized. And in the Russian market, a Chinese cargo scooter, the price of which ranges from sixty to seventy thousand rubles, is quite in demand. This is especially true for models such as Kinfan, Omax, etc. Farmers use them to transport fruits and vegetables, as well as for small livestock. In addition, the cargo scooter is in demand in the construction industry.
