Before the perfection of each line of the Pagani Huayra car was achieved, the engineers from Horatio Pagani's garage worked hard for five years. As a result, the model has already managed to gain a reputation as a machine in which the present, past and future are reunited in one model. Its main problem lies only in the fact that only a few people are destined to appreciate the quality of workmanship and modern technologies used in the novelty. The debut of the car took place in 2013 in Geneva.
Engine
The first thing that arouses admiration in the Pagani Huayra model is the technical characteristics of the power unit. Under its hood is a six-liter turbocharged engine consisting of twelve cylinders. This motor was borrowed from the Mercedes AMG model. The power plant is capable of developing power up to 700 horsepower. The main feature of the design of the turbines is that the driver has the ability to control the operation of the motor at any time and prevent possible delays. This happens because the smallestthrottle stroke causes an immediate response. Among other things, the motor is equipped with various systems that can withstand the most adverse operating conditions. Compared to numerous analogues, the engine is distinguished not only by significantly lower fuel consumption (18 liters for every hundred kilometers), but also by reducing the emission of harmful substances into the atmosphere.
Transmission
The Pagani Huayra model is equipped with a seven-speed robotic gearbox. Its manufacturer is the British company Xtrac, which specializes in the development and supply of transmissions for some racing car series. No matter how strange it may look, but in combination with a heavy-duty motor, a rather conservative and simple mechanism functions, in which there is only one set of clutches. The fact is that the use of a more complex box would undoubtedly lead to an increase in the weight of the machine, which would result in a great loss of time. After some consultation with potential customers, the Italian designers preferred a smaller problem.
Body and exterior
The basis of the model Pagani Huayra is a completely new monocoque, which is made from an alloy of titanium and carbon. To ensure greater body rigidity, composite materials and technologies are used here, which were first tested on the Zonda R modification. The car's doors are made in the shape of a gull wing, which ends closer to the centerroofs. In order to increase safety, the fuel tank is completely behind the driver. Its location is additionally reinforced with a lattice, for the manufacture of which complex, ballistic-resistant materials are used. Chrome-molybdenum inserts are installed at the front and rear of the car, the main purpose of which is to ensure the optimal ratio of weight and rigidity of the car. It should be noted that in the event of an accident, this design absorbs a significant amount of energy.
One of the most expensive and conspicuous gifts that the Pagani Huayra car inherited from the previous modification (Zonda R) was bi-xenon headlights equipped with DRL. In addition, a streamlined shape, achieved by combining a diffuser and a rear bumper, has become characteristic of the brand. The designers paid special attention to finding solutions designed to reduce the weight of the machine. As a result, a rather successful combination of various elements led to the fact that its total value is only 1350 kg.
Speed characteristics
The maximum speed of the Pagani Huayra is 378 km/h. To reach the mark of 100 km / h, the model needs 3.2 seconds of time. At the same time, it is impossible not to note the instantaneous reaction of the car to pressing the brake pedal. At a speed of 200 km / h, it is able to completely stop in just 4.2 seconds. The novelty boasts excellent aerodynamic parameters, due to which it overcomes tight turns even at high speed.
Cost
According to the Italian designers, they plan to assemble forty copies of the Pagani Huayra every year, each of which starts at $1.4 million in the US market. With additional options, this figure can increase significantly. Despite this, the queue for an exclusive car is already scheduled for several years in advance.
