"Volkswagen Golf 5" was presented in autumn 2003 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The car was created on the latest universal platform, which also became the basis of the second generation Audi A3. Passengers sitting at the back have become more spacious due to the transformation of the cabin: the footwell has lengthened by 65 millimeters, and the ceiling has risen by 24 mm. Among other things, the volume of the luggage compartment has grown to 347 liters.

The exterior characteristics of the Golf 5 car, the photo of which is presented in the article, are made up of several dominant criteria: the main one, which determines the overall design style of the car, is the waist line that runs along the lower edge of the side windows and rises to the rear pillars body. The angle of inclination of the belt line coincides with the angle of inclination of the roof line, in a mirror image. There is an effect of uniform convergence of two horizontal lines of the body, upper and lower, which give the impression of swiftness.

Redesigned front end

The front of the car has been contoured to meet high aerodynamic performance, and along with this, the design of the front of the car has been significantly updated. The model received modern optics, the headlights are composed of two halogens located above the horizontal turn signals, and the shape of the block headlight is slightly beveled towards the center, which gives the appearance of the car a little aggressiveness. The front fenders wrap around the top edge of the headlamp with a slight overlap, creating a kind of "eye socket" that the front fender and bonnet edge together form.

The cabin also provides the option of loading long luggage and individual items, such as ski equipment. For stacking particularly long loads, it is enough to tilt the back of the front passenger seat forward, thereby creating a perfectly flat area, then unfold part of the rear seat and its back. ATthe result is a comfortable surface on which you can put skis or other things up to three meters long.

Devices and new control technologies

The center console with instruments and controls is raised eight centimeters for greater ease of reading instrument readings and making adjustments. All the buttons for operating the audio system, navigation sensors and remote non-contact control of ventilation and air conditioning are also located here. The localization of buttons, keys and toggle switches is subject to a single rational layout, in full accordance with German technological traditions.
