MAN engines today are a model of engineering, technological excellence and true German quality. And the position of the company itself in the world market of manufacturers of large diesel engines for ships, trucks and power plants is unshakable. It is one of the top three manufacturers of turbomachines. Any MAN engine today is perceived as a guarantee of the highest quality.

The history of the company spans almost two centuries - since 1915, when the first MAN diesel engine was produced. Since then, it has been a world leader and unquestioned authority in the diesel industry. Today, the concern's branches are located in more than one hundred and fifty countries around the world. Representative offices are managed by the head office located in Augsburg.

Interesting is the fact from the company's history that at one time it very actively participated in the Third Reich, which was never destined to become a thousand years old. ATthe period from January forty-three and almost until the very end of Nazism, in May forty-fifth, a serial armored vehicle Pz Kpfw V, better known as the Panther, which became the main and best tank of the Wehrmacht, rolled off the assembly line of the factories of this glorious concern. It was equipped with a MAN engine, which experts unanimously recognize as the most powerful diesel engine of that time. The disadvantages of the "Panther" can be considered the complexity and high cost of production, but by no means technical characteristics. In terms of its parameters, it was second only to our famous "thirty-four".

Now, of course, times have changed, and the company's products have a completely peaceful purpose. The production of diesel engines is not the only direction of its activity. The group's wide product range also includes turbochargers, gas engines, chemical reactors, propellers and much more.

MAN marine engines have been the main propulsion force for bulk carriers, bulk carriers, barges and tankers for many decades, regardless of their size and power range. According to statistics, MAN engines are installed on 48,000 ships of various displacements, profiles and specifics.

The four-stroke diesel engines produced by the company ideally combine huge power with optimum speed. They are perfect for many types of maritime transport - ferries, cargo, passenger, cruise, merchant and multi-purpose vessels of large displacement. Approximatelyhalf of all maritime commercial traffic is carried out by ships powered by a MAN engine.

Another priority activity of the concern is the manufacture of diesel engines for power plants, the vast majority of which today are focused on the use of various types of fuel. In addition to traditional natural gas and fuel oil, sometimes even crude oil is used. The company's high-power electric motors are capable of operating on virtually any commercially available types of fuel materials. It is these qualities, combined with unpretentiousness, long service life and ease of maintenance, that have made the concern's engines extremely popular in third world countries, where high-quality fuel is often simply not available.
