On the roads, the most common versions are with a 1.6-liter unit paired with an automatic transmission in a sedan and a 5-door hatchback.

The car is characterized by a decent margin of power and reliability, but sooner or later owners face a popular problem: the trunk lid of the Ford Focus-2 does not open. Consider the main reasons.

Trunk won't open

If the Focus stopped responding to the button to open the fifth door, then several main factors could be the cause:

• Frayed wire cable coming from the cabin to the trunk.
• Water got inside the open button, causing rust on the contacts.
• Protective fuse blown.

From the driver's side, a thick cable comes out of the passenger compartment, which must be actively moved, and then try to open the fifth door again. You can invite a friend who will press the button while trying to move the loop. This method often helps if the broken wires are in contact and a signal passes through them.
4. The last and most difficult option is to remove the lining from the inside of the fifth door and unscrew the bolts that hold the saber with the key. The removed saber will allow access to the button for cleaning from water and rust.
