The Vista-Ardeo car is a passenger station wagon produced by Toyota for domestic sales only. The car had a roomy comfortable interior, good technical parameters, but was never able to gain recognition in its homeland.

Creating a station wagon

The Toyota Vista Ardeo passenger car is a mid-size front-wheel drive station wagon that became a stand-alone model in 1998. Restyling was carried out in 2002, and production was carried out until 2004. The car was produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and therefore has a right-hand drive version only.

A feature of the model is a roomy interior, which in terms of its characteristics is close to a minivan, which is noticeable in the photo of Toyota-Vista-Ardeo presented above. The station wagon had a front-engine layout and was produced in two transmission options: with all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive.

Appearance

The design of the Toyota Vista Ardeo model can be called calm and confident, but at the same time quite recognizable. itprovides an unusual design of the rear of the car, which is equipped with a large wide glass. At the front, there are wide headlights in a two-lens design, a straight front bumper with a lower air intake and fog lights. The hexagonal grille is commensurate in height with the head optics and forms a single style with it. The hood has a slight slope.

The front end of the station wagon is characterized by oversized side windows and a straight bottom line. The roof also has an almost straight contour. The rear of the car, in addition to extended glazing, has large lights, which are interconnected by a longitudinal insert with the name of the model. Under the straight bumper is a niche for the license plate.

In general, the body structure is dominated by straight lines, which form a confident appearance of the car, which is consistent with the station wagon's purpose as a large family car.

Specifications

For a short production period by automotive standards, which is only 4 years, the station wagon has been restyled. It was equipped with three power units with a capacity of 130 (V-1, 8 l), 145 (V-2, 0 l) and 158 horsepower (V-2, 0 l). The technical parameters of the Toyota Vista Ardeo model with the 3S-FE engine (145 hp), most often installed in the basic front-wheel drive version, are:

Car Features

Despite the fact that the Toyota-Vista-Ardeo car was not officially supplied to our country, as well as to other states, this model was sold on the secondary market. The largest number of them is currently used in the Far East region. According to the few reviews of the owners, the following advantages of the station wagon can be noted:

• recognizable design;
• body with strong anti-corrosion properties;
• spacious comfortable interior, there are modifications in the six-seat version (driver and two passengers in the front seat);
• capacious trunk;
• comfortable rear seats for three passengers with individual headrests and armrests, as well as the ability to tilt backrests;
• rich equipment.

Among the shortcomings, there is a high sensitivity of the Toyota-Vista-Ardeo injection pump to fuel quality, the lack of a full-size spare tire, and the high cost of spare parts. It is also noted that the popularity of the car is limited due to right-hand drive.
