ZIL-133G40 truck is based on the legendary 130th model. Updated modifications have become more practical and more productive than their predecessor. The onboard version is designed to transport a variety of goods on public roads.

Transmission and clutch
Gear shifting of the ZIL-133G40 truck is carried out by means of a pneumomechanical drive. Among the features - the valve for switching on the executive unit interacts with the pusher of the pneumatic booster associated with the systemclutch actuator.
This allows the driver to pre-select the desired speed in the divider without using the accelerator and clutch pedals, after which the gear is activated by simply depressing the clutch pedal. The convenience of such a system is especially noticeable on roads with frequently changing terrain and coverage. Depending on the year of manufacture, the manual transmission had 5 or 9 modes. Clutch type - single disc clutch with a driven disc with a diameter of 38 cm.
Brakes
The brake assembly includes four systems:
- Working unit with atmospheric drive. The stopper of forward and back wheels passes separately. The system is controlled by a pedal in the cab and a brake valve with special levers.
- Parking brake used to fix the machine on a slope. The system is also controlled by pneumatics with a special crane. The brake chambers are equipped with battery cells to prevent wheel braking on the rear axle.
- Auxiliary node is used for frequent stops. At the same time, part of the load from the main unit is leveled due to braking by the motor. This feature extends the life of the entire brake system.
- The spare unit is designed for braking the ZIL-133G40 in the event of a failure of the main system. The emergency brakes are controlled by a parking crane that activates the energy storage units.
Chassis and suspension components
The frame of the car in question consists of a pair of stampedspars. They are connected to each other by means of special crossbars. The last elements are quite important in the overall behavior of the structure. Rigidity is guaranteed by the special structure of the joints. This is a rather important point, since the supports for the power unit and related parts are mounted on the first part, spars on the third crossbar, the fourth element is equipped with channel halves, the fifth crossbar is used to install the towing device.
The front wheels of the ZIL-133G40 have a dependent suspension unit with longitudinal semi-elliptical springs and telescopic shock absorbers. The analogue on the rear wheels is dependent balancers with torque rods and springs. Frame design - spar, stamped, welded configuration.
Cab
Description of ZIL-133G40 will continue by considering the driver's seat. The cabin is taken from its predecessor (130th series). It has been slightly improved and refined. Among the changes is an increase in height, the bumper was left in white, and the main body is found in various shades. Above the grille there is a manufacturer's nameplate. Under this element are towing hooks for the cable. There are position lights on the roof, standard “turn signals” on the sides, and frontal main light elements in front.
Internal equipment is quite tolerable, everything is done for the convenience of the driver. The equipment includes a ventilation hatch, large rear-view mirrors, and other details that simplify the workflow. The driver's seat is adjustable for reach and tilt, whichallows you to adjust it for a specific person.
All controls are identical to those from the cab of the 130th ZIL. This makes it easy to get comfortable with their location and control. Such a placement is quite convenient and as clear as possible. Measuring sensors and control devices are modern even in modern times. In addition to being able to drive with a maximum load, the machine can tow an additional tow hitch.
Body
The construction of this part in some modifications is wooden, in newer models it is made of metal. On the ZIL-133G40 truck (see photo in the article) with an average base, only the sides recline, versions with an elongated base are equipped with folding walls on three sides.
To increase the usefulness of the car and expand its functionality, mounting on the body of the tent is allowed. For this purpose, a special frame structure is used. Instead of the cargo part, various modules for industrial, agricultural and special tasks were mounted on the 133-X modification. If desired, customers could order a car with an empty chassis, subsequently mounting the necessary installation, which is important for organizations with a narrowly focused activity.
Advantages and disadvantages
The history of the ZIL-133G40 indicates that the car has a number of positive qualities. These include the economics of operation. Repairing a truck does not require significant costs, including when replacing parts and assemblies. Purchase spare partswill be difficult, since they are divided into separate subgroups. In addition, the advantages include unpretentiousness in maintenance, good cross-country ability and carrying capacity.
Despite all the advantages, the car has its drawbacks. He does not behave very confidently on absolute off-road and snow-covered areas. Among the minuses, they also note the poor noise insulation of the cabin and the quality of processing of the external parts of the vehicle. Despite all the features, the ZIL-133G40 truck proved to be a reliable and loyal assistant in various industries, capable of performing well-defined tasks in any climatic regions.
