The Nissan Navara pickup is a SUT class car, which translates as "sports utility truck." The car is a universal assistant that can both deliver passengers (and cargo) from point "A" to point "B", and be used as a vehicle for off-road travel. The benefit of a plug-in all-wheel drive and a high landing allow this.

First Generation

The Nissan Navara debuted as an authentic model at international motor shows in 1997. He replaced on the assembly line the well-deserved "retired" Pickup Datsun Hardbody Trucks, whose pedigree dates back to the 1930s. In some regions, the car is also known as Frontier and NP300.

Compared to the Datsun Hardbody, the car was distinguished by some technical improvements (although the base as a whole remained similar) and a radically redesigned design. If the predecessor was more of a commercial mini-truck with a detached body, then Navara is already a family assistant withmodern design and a single body in two- and four-door versions. Dimensions to match a pickup truck: width - 1.85 m; length - 5, 22 m; height - 1.77 m; ground clearance - 239 mm.

In Europe, the first D22 generation Nissan Navara was equipped with six types of engines (VG33E, QD32, ZD30DDT, YD25DDTi, KA24DE, KA24E) with a volume of 2.4-3.3 liters. The most common was the modification with a 3.2-liter 75-kilowatt power unit. In the US market, Navara was equipped with a 2.4-liter KA24E I4 engine. In February 2003, a 3.3-liter VG33E V6 appeared. In North America, the model was restyled in 2001.

Second Generation

In 2004, the Nissan Navara was significantly redesigned. The design clearly shows the continuity of generations, but the dimensions have grown significantly: the length of the body has exceeded 5.5 meters. The updated truck is based on the new Nissan F-Alpha platform and has a full box ladder frame. The wheelbase is 3.2m, the load capacity is almost up to 3 tons.

Nissan Navara's standard engine is the A 4.0L VQ-family V6 (VQ40DE), which produces 261 hp. With. (195 kW) and 381 Nm of torque. A four-cylinder QR25DE engine with 152 hp is also available. With. (113 kW) and 232 Nm. The standard six-speed manual can be replaced with a 5-speed "automatic". In a normal situation, the drive goes to the rear wheels, however, if necessary, the front wheels are connected with a ratio of 50/50%. Traction control options and hill descent assistance are available andclimbs.

Navara D40

Nissan Navara with internal code D40 was introduced in March 2005 at the Geneva Motor Show. It is similar to the Pathfinder SUV, but is a pickup version. The two cars have a common technical base and use interchangeable parts. "Navara" has a frame structure, independent front suspension with wishbones and a rigid rear axle with leaf springs.

The engine is a 2.5-liter common rail diesel with variable turbine geometry. The motor provides the car with a force of 174 liters. With. (128 kW) with a torque of 403 Nm. A little later, the power plant was modified in favor of fuel economy, while the power fell slightly - to 171 hp. With. In world markets, there is also a modification with a 4-liter V6 gasoline engine (269 hp).

Restyling

By the end of 2007, the Navara model was upgraded. Two new color options have become available, alloy wheels have been redesigned for more fashionable ones. The side turn signals have been moved from the fenders to the exterior mirrors. The interior uses better materials and fabrics. The Bluetooth hands-free kit is now available for all versions. Equipment options increased to four options:

  • XE (Basic package).
  • SE (comfort).
  • LE (luxury).
  • White Elements (Special Edition).

The most interesting is the last option, designed for ski loverssports. The modification includes equipment for mounting and transporting skis, winter tires with exclusive black 17-inch alloy wheels, a box for storing sports equipment. The cabin is equipped with heated seats trimmed with black leather. For an additional fee, it was possible to install an executive package with a DVD navigation system, MP3-CD radio and a voice recognition system.

In 2008, a Platinum trim option was added to the LE Double Cab. It includes heated and electrically adjustable leather seats, a Bose sound system, a DVD navigation system with a rearview camera, a glass sunroof, 17-inch alloy wheels and various Gun Metal Grey-style trims.

In March 2010 at the Geneva Motor Show, the next version of Navara was presented. It features a new grille, updated headlights and a less sharp front bumper. Inside, new materials are used, and the layout of the controls in the center console has been revised. There was a special touch navigation system, xenon headlights and a reversing camera.

The technical characteristics of the Nissan Navara have also changed. The 2.5 liter diesel engine has been modified and now delivers up to 190 hp. With. (140 kW), has a torque of 450 Nm and consumes an average of 8.4 liters of diesel fuel per 100 km, which is less than the previous model. A 3.0-liter V6 diesel with 231 hp is also offered. With. (170 kW) and 550 Nm of torque that meets the standardemissions Euro 5 and allows you to transport a 3-ton trailer.

Third generation

In 2015, the Japanese company launched the Navara NP300 series, based on an updated platform. The car has undergone the most changes over the past decade. The design is based on a ladder frame with an improved frontal deformation system, which has significantly improved safety. Suspension has been improved - the traditional leaf spring system at the rear has been replaced with stronger springs located on five trailing arms.

Thanks to the efforts of the designers, the ride quality has become more comfortable, and the control is clear. Independent tests have shown that the new suspension has a much greater degree of shock compensation, effectively "swallowing" pits, potholes, rails at crossings. Driving on a dirt road is not much different from driving on asph alt. Despite the soft ride, the load capacity remains quite decent:

  • 880 kg for entry level modification (DX 4×2);
  • 930 kg - for ST-X 4×4 version;
  • 986 kg - for the "medium" ST 4×4;
  • over 1000kg for flagship RX 4×2.

Despite the fact that the steering ratio in corners is too "long" (about 3.75 turns for the ST-X and at least 4.25 turns for the RX with narrow 16-inch tires), the car is controlled quite accurately.

Reviews

Nissan Navara has proven to be a great family companion. It is suitable for the safe delivery of children to school, and for the transportation of oversized cargo, and for traveling in nature. The car is quite reliable, suitable for operation in extreme climatic zones. high ground clearance andplug-in all-wheel drive provide good cross-country ability. The owners note a dynamic high-torque motor, which is not caught in excessive voracity.

Surprisingly, with significant dimensions, the interior cannot be called spacious. Nevertheless, the cargo body takes up useful space from passengers. Again, due to the large size and weight on a slippery track, the rear skids a little when cornering. For many, the critical disadvantage is the high cost of both the car itself and its repair/maintenance.
