New Chinese cars have long occupied a separate niche not only in the domestic market, but throughout the world. This is not surprising, since the automotive industry in China is constantly developing and growing. The main trend in the policy of companies from this country is the creation of copies of foreign cars that are in high demand. In our state, most of the products imported from China are of dubious quality. On the other hand, in recent years, conscientious firms have nevertheless appeared here that produce good and reliable cars. One of these manufacturers is the FAW company, which appeared on the domestic market about ten years ago. The latest novelty from her was the Besturn X80 model, which will be discussed in more detail later in this article.

The FAW Besturn X80 car in Russia became the first crossover from this manufacturer. It is worth noting that the Chinese designers looked very ambitiously into the future when developing the model. First of all, this is evidenceis the sloping roof and intelligent lighting system made in the style of the BMW X6. Also, representatives of the Chinese company focus the attention of potential buyers on the use of advanced technologies in terms of control and comfort in the model. In appearance, the car strongly resembles the first generation Infiniti FX, so not every person will immediately say that there is an inexpensive Chinese crossover in front of him (the photo of the Besturn X80 model is another confirmation of this). At the same time, the developers claim that when creating the model, they took into account only modern trends in the automotive industry, and did not copy the best features from competitors. The design is striking abundance of chrome elements. The radiator grille with the emblem of the manufacturer in combination with modern front optics look very impressive. The same goes for custom-shaped bumpers. It is impossible not to mention the successful roof of the FAW Besturn X80, which smoothly turns into a visor and adds dynamism to it. Almost the only strange element in the appearance of the model can be called the rearlights that look like they were taken from another car and glued to the back door.

Interior

The model has an original and modern interior. Its finish is made of soft, non-creaking, pleasant to the touch plastic, so you can’t even immediately believe that the car was made in China. The steering wheel is covered with high quality leatherette and lies comfortably in the hands. The instrument console is made in the form of a deep well, at the bottom of which the main instruments are located. All control buttons are clear and placed at arm's length for the driver. A pleasant impression remains on the build quality. At the request of the buyer of the FAW Besturn X80, four airbags and side curtains on the windows can be installed in the car. In addition, he can choose the interior trim in light or dark leather.

The developers have equipped the model with many advanced technologies. First of all, it is necessary to note the modern multimedia system. It includes navigation, the ability to connect to an on-board computer via Bluetooth, a music player, and many other programs. The engine is started by pressing a button.

Engines and transmission

Chinese designers have provided two petrol power units for the FAW Besturn X80 model. As standard, a 145-horsepower 2-liter engine is installed under the hood of the novelty. It functions in tandem with a six-speed manual transmission. In addition, it is also availableoption with automatic transmission. The second power plant is a 2.3-liter engine with a capacity of 158 horsepower. In this configuration option, only a six-speed robotic automatic box is offered to a potential buyer.

It should be noted that both FAW Besturn X80 engines fully comply with the Euro-5 environmental standard. As for fuel consumption, in the combined cycle, its average does not exceed the mark of 10 liters per hundred kilometers. According to unofficial information, the company's engineers are currently working on the creation of a new robotic transmission for this model.

Chassis

The car is built on the basis of the second generation of the Mazda-6. A McPherson-type suspension is installed at the front, and a multi-link suspension at the rear. Each wheel has disc brakes. In our country, an exclusively all-wheel drive version of the car is being sold. In general, the control of the car can be called good and simple. Along with this, easy cornering is not among the strengths of the FAW Besturn X80. A test drive of a car is another confirmation that even not at the highest speed, it is characterized by rolls that cause discomfort to people inside. As for the straight sections, here the car behaves perfectly and confidently holds the road, easily overcoming both minor and serious road surface defects.

Cost and prospects

The cost of new items in the salons of domesticdealers in the average configuration is about 750 thousand rubles. Despite the fact that new Chinese cars from most other manufacturers are cheaper, the model is now in fairly high demand. It is not surprising that representatives of the manufacturing company have high hopes for it. If you look at the main characteristics of the car, we can conclude that it is great for use on domestic roads. Moreover, the developers promise the appearance in the near future of other, simpler engine options, and therefore there is every reason to hope for a reduction in the cost of the model.
