The domestic automotive industry cannot boast of a wide variety of high-quality and reliable representatives of technology. However, specimens stand out among the gray mass, ready to amaze with their features. Sobol is such a car - a car that forces us to look with hope into the bright future of the Russian car industry.

Gorky Automobile Plant at the end of 1998 presented to the public a new model of business cars, which was named "Sobol". A series of light trucks, vans and minibuses immediately began to gain popularity among enterprising compatriots due to their low price and good technical characteristics.
Gazelle and Sobol are close relatives. The machine has the same base, but a large number of innovations required the allocation of a new representative of the plant in a separate class.
One of the features of the car was the design of the "banjo". It is the main gear and differentialrear axle, which is installed in the hole in the crankcase, followed by bolting.
Another feature is the displacement of the drive gear of the main gear relative to the driven gear, which is successfully implemented in the design of the Sobol car. Thanks to this, the car has a gear ratio of 4.556.

Gasoline and diesel engines are installed on the family of cars, depending on the modification.
At the same time, the specifications change dramatically. It remains only to give general data:
- maximum load capacity - from 745 to 900 kg;
- engine power - 106-120 horsepower;
- fuel consumption - 9, 2-13, 2 liters per 100 km;
- max speed 120-135 km/h;
- turning radius - 5-5.5 m;
- cargo compartment volume - 3, 7-6, 9 m3;
- loading height - 720-820 mm.
Sable (machine) has good maneuverability. Turning radius characteristics, dimensions are significantly smaller than those of its closest counterpart, and allow you to turn around in very cramped conditions.
Sable and Gazelle: similarities and differences
Despite the fact that both cars are classified as light trucks, have a common base, there are significant differences between them. The most important are the dimensions. Unlike the Gazelle, the Sobol is more than half a meter shorter. But this also affects capacity. Minibuses can accommodate 17 and 10 passengers respectively.
Nota less significant difference that the GAZ Sobol machine has is the design of the chassis. Finally, the engineers decided to forego the springs when designing a new small truck and remembered the spring suspension. This explains the higher level of comfort in the last representative of the factory.
But trucks have a lot in common. The main one is the gearbox - a 5-speed manual system is mounted on both copies. Representatives of GAZ are also similar in the presence of all-wheel drive counterparts in the lineup.
Summing up all of the above, we can conclude that the Sobol is a car designed for the comfortable transportation of passengers, and the Gazelle is better suited for transporting goods. This is the main difference between them.
