"Fiat Croma" is a car whose history begins in the 80s of the last century. In those days, a brand new 5-door practical model was appreciated by potential buyers. It combined many good qualities, the main of which are space and convenience.
Start release
"Fiat Krom" was immediately offered in several versions. And they differed in engines. The most powerful power unit of the first years is a 2-liter 155-horsepower gasoline engine. But, in addition to it, 5 more engines operating on this fuel were offered. Of these, four two-liter. There was an option for 90, 120, 115 and 150 liters. With. And one more - 1.6-liter, 83 liters. With. There were also models with a diesel unit for 75 "horses" (the volume was 2.5 liters) and 100 liters. With. (Turbodiesel, 2.45L).
In 1988, the new Fiat plant began operating, equipped with new modern equipment. Not surprisingly, it was decided to expand the lineup. A new Fiat Croma appeared - with a 92-horsepower turbodiesel, which had a direct fuel injection system. The model, by the way, went down in history as the first production car equipped with such an engine.
Restyling
In the spring of 1989, Fiat Krom changed. The body, interior, and even the reforms have affected the engines. The power of the 1.6-liter, gasoline, was slightly increased - up to 85 hp. With. The remaining units, the volume of which was 2 liters, also began to produce more "horses". And, to be more precise, 100, 115, 120, 150 and 158 liters. With. The turbodiesel 2.5-liter unit now boasted 118 hp. s.
Further, at the beginning of 1991, a turbodiesel novelty appeared. Namely - 1.9 VNT-Turbo. The power of this motor was 94 liters. With. In December 1992, a 16-valve 2-liter unit with 140 hp was added to the engine range. With. And in 1993, a 162-horsepower, 2.5-liter volume appeared.
In general, as you can see, manufacturers were very worried about what exactly was under the hoods of their cars. Apparently, it is for this reason that the Fiat Kroma car has gained confidence. Because this car was really popular and bought by many.
Further production
In 1996, the Fiat Kroma stopped being produced. In total, 450 thousand cars were produced and sold.
But in 2005, the Italian concern presented a novelty to the public. This was the second generation of the Croma. Almost ten years later, the company decided to return to the European segment E. And the novelty really had all the qualities that made it popularagain.
This model was designed on a short platform taken from the Opel Signum car. This mid-size station wagon has a wheelbase of 2700 mm. It features a shortened rear overhang, MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link design at the rear. The novelty is 4.75 meters long, 1.77 meters wide and 1.6 meters high.
The design turned out to be very successful: simple, but at the same time, elegant. Particularly pleased with the expressive "look" headlights and chrome grille.
The novelty has a comfortable, ergonomic and practical interior. Inside it is spacious, so there is enough space for the driver and four passengers. The rear seats, by the way, can be folded and moved forward or backward - regardless of each other, since they are separate.
The equipment of the second generation Fiat is worthy: 7 airbags, ES, ABS, air conditioning, spherical side windows, xenon optics, cruise control, an 8-speaker audio system and many other amenities.
Technical features of the second generation
What else can you say about the mid-2000s model? This is technically a completely new Fiat Krom. 154 horsepower is no longer the limit. The most powerful engine in the lineup could produce 200 hp. With. And the least powerful version was a 1.8-liter 130-horsepower unit. There was also a 150 hp petrol engine. With. (2.2 liters). But the developers focused on turbodiesels. Installation was proposed - 1.9 l R4 8V (power was 120 hp) and 1.9 l R4 16V (150"horses"). Both versions of the Fiat Kroma model were popular. There were no 2.0-liter versions, only 1.9 and 2.2. And, of course, the notorious flagship 200-horsepower engine, its volume was 2.4 liters. By the way, there were versions with both 6-band mechanics and 6-speed automatic. It was up to the buyer which option to purchase. Each Fiat Kroma engine could be equipped with a manual or automatic transmission.
Most importantly, this model has received five stars in the EuroNCAP test. In terms of reliability, this car is next to the BMW of the third series and the Passat.
In 2008, the model has undergone another restyling. Only the appearance has changed - the technical characteristics have remained the same.
Unfortunately, only one version of the car was delivered to Russia - with a 4-cylinder 2.2-liter 147-horsepower engine.
