Modern cars have such characteristics that the speed of a couple of hundred kilometers per hour no longer surprises anyone. Moreover, modern technologies allow a one and a half liter engine to develop 150-200 horsepower, for such an achievement ten years ago it took three liters of working volume.

Therefore, we can conclude that at such speeds it is important to stop in time. In turn, for this you need to maintain the brake system in good condition. No wonder the SDA prohibits the operation of a vehicle with a faulty brake system, even to the place of repair. The main assembly of the brake system is the master brake cylinder.

Most systems are multi-loop. This means that the master brake cylinder itself is divided into several chambers, most often two. Such a system was the most widespread, because it was the most convenient scheme: one kennel per axle. Thus, even if the brakes of the front wheels fail, for example, the rear oneswill continue to function.

On a positive note, the brake master cylinder is virtually wear-free. The fact is that the piston in it is equipped with peculiar piston rings. They, like their "colleagues", perform the function of maintaining pressure. Only now they are made of rubber, so there is no contact between the mirror of the cylinder itself and the metal. As a rule, damage occurs due to untimely replacement of the brake fluid, in which particles of various foreign bodies remain.

As a rule, it is these rubber seals that wear out, because not a single rubber, no matter what properties it has, can survive in the brake fluid. There are two types of brake cylinders.

For example, the VAZ brake cylinder is not equipped with a reservoir for brake fluid, it is fixed a little higher on the body. Such a scheme is good because the tank does not interfere in the engine compartment, and also guarantees its safety, because the temperature conditions of the engine are very high. Of course, it is made of heat-resistant plastic, but anything can happen.

There is also another brake master cylinder. Gazelle, for example. Here the tank with the liquid is fixed directly on it. The advantages of this technology include greater compactness than in the previous build. In addition, there are no connecting hoses, which eventually become unusable from contact with brake fluid. They require quitetight clamps, because the brake fluid has an amazing hygroscopicity, and its leakage disables the brake system.

As a rule, if wear does occur, the brake master cylinder is replaced with internal parts, no matter how good they are. The fact is that it can be repeated, since the wear of parts can also be the result of a defect in any part, and if it is not replaced, then all the work will be wasted. As the saying goes, a miser pays twice. Therefore, do not spare money, because you simply have to buy a new brake cylinder again.
