Appearing on the domestic market in 2011, "Hyundai Solaris" has already gained a pretty good reputation. A practical and affordable sedan ideally suited for the majority of the population of our country. Hatchback "Solaris" fell in love with adherents of compact versions. In 2013, after restyling this popular model, the developers hope to maintain the achieved level of popularity. Practically all cars under the Hyundai Solaris brand that can be found on the roads of Russia are assembled at an automobile plant near St. Petersburg. "Russified" "Solaris" leaves the conveyors of this enterprise in two modifications: a hatchback and a sedan. Their specifications are almost identical. However, the Hyundai Solaris hatchback, whose price is also almost the same as the sedan, has a higher demand than its "relative".

Exterior - a side view

Despite the fact that the 2013 Hyundai Solaris hatchback was originally conceived by the developersas a budget class car, it was endowed with a rather attractive appearance. In the exterior of the hatchback, two styles seem to have merged: elegant classic and fast-paced sports. Maybe that's why it looks much more expensive than the creators ask for it.

The Solaris hatchback is quite compact in size. It is only 4,370 m long, 1,700 and 1,470 m wide and 1,470 m respectively. Since the developers, when creating the car, mainly focused on Russia, the hatchback received a quite acceptable ground clearance of 160 mm. This makes it possible to freely ride not only on city streets, but also on country roads. In addition, the new "Solaris" has a fairly good cross.

Interior - modest but tasteful

The interior of the hatchback is made in a modern style. In the Solaris cabin, as, indeed, in most budget class cars, plastic prevails. In general, the idea of the designers was not bad, but the Russian assembly affects. After a short time, all the plastic elements of the cabin begin to emit an unpleasant creak. And, despite the fact that the interior has fairly good sound insulation, most Solaris owners are forced to install additional soundproof materials under the skin in order to somehow reduce the unpleasant sounds from the vibrating plastic.

In addition to the quality of the finish, the disadvantages of the car include a persistent smell of plastic, which does not disappear for a long timetime. And the very quality of the plastic leaves much to be desired.

In the basic version, the new "Solaris" is equipped with a 1.4-liter gasoline engine with a potential of 107 "horses" paired with two transmission options: a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic. The second motor in the line has a more solid power reserve (123 hp) with a volume of 1.6 liters.

As the test drive showed, the power units, despite their modest parameters, develop a good traction force, vigorously moving the car along Russian roads. On flat pavement, the Solaris hatchback behaves perfectly. The caustic Internet statements about "sea rolling" on potholes were not confirmed during the test. Yes, there is a slight buildup of the body on a wave-like surface. However, in general, the suspension perfectly adapts to all the "surprises" of Russian roads.

Concluding the review of the Russian-Korean novelty, we can say that in general the hatchback has the best value for money. And the flexibility of the configuration should ensure proper success with Russian motorists. The developers tried to present their creation in such a way that each owner can “design” the car in accordance with their desires. If you do not take into account the main options - "Advanced", "Winter", "Prestige" and "Safety" - you can choose your Solaris hatchback from 60 options.
