Modern car engines are not just a power mechanism, but a real complex organism that requires ideal working conditions. If any element does not work as it should, then various symptoms and engine breakdowns are possible. One of the common problems is when the engine does not start well when hot.
This means that in the morning the car starts with a half turn, but if you just park for a couple of minutes at the store, it will be difficult to start it again. There are several possible failure options. Let's take a look at each one.
What to do if the engine starts hard when hot?
Note that the symptoms of a problem starting the motor manifest themselves in different ways. Some cars refuse to start at all until the power plant has completely cooled down. Others start on the third or fourth attempt, and some motorshave to twist 20-30 seconds to fully launch.
What to do in this case? It is necessary to look for a problem and troubleshoot, replace a poorly functioning internal combustion engine element or repair it. Note that such a malfunction may be a harbinger of more serious breakdowns, so it is better to solve it at an early stage.
Bad fuel as a possible problem
When pouring low-quality gasoline or diesel fuel, you should not be surprised why the engine does not start well when hot. It is fuel that is the most common cause of poor engine starting. It's easy to check. Just roll out all the fuel and fill in a new, better one. If you previously refueled with A92 gasoline, then you can try filling in A98 and see how the car behaves. In the case of diesel fuel, you need to change the gas station and choose a more reliable seller.
There may be such problems with the motor:
- High content of additives in the fuel, which are poorly perceived by the engine.
- It is difficult for the pump to pump the required amount of fuel due to clogged filters.
- The engine control settings have gone wrong. Inaccurate operation of the air mixture supply is also possible.
- The idle air valve and mass air flow sensor could be the cause.
- Feature of the work of carburetor engines. Being too hot, they do not start well.
The last point does not apply to injection engines. Just atcarburetor engine has such a feature that they do not start well on a hot one. This is due to the fact that the carburetor heats up to a very high temperature. Gasoline evaporates under the influence of temperature and fills the chambers and tubes of the carburetor in the form of gas. The float chamber remains empty. And if you start the engine 5 minutes after stopping the engine, you may encounter a problem with starting it, because. there will be no liquid fuel in the combustion chambers. This is normal, and such a problem is solved either by manually pumping fuel, or by several attempts to start the engine. In injection power plants, this problem is excluded, because there the fuel is delivered to the combustion chambers directly from the line.
Fuel pump problem
The fuel pump in the car has no special cooling. It is in the tank and is cooled by gasoline, and if there is not enough gasoline in the tank, the pump may overheat. Therefore, it is not recommended to drive with the "Refill" light on. Also, in the heat, the gasoline in the tank heats up, as does the gasoline pump during operation. All together, this leads to the fact that in the process of pumping gasoline, the pump becomes very hot and refuses to start until it cools down. In this case, the pump may refuse to work even while driving: it simply stalls. If the engine does not start well when hot due to the pump, then the masters recommend:
- Replace it. This is a simple and correct solution. The cost of the pump is small - about 1000 rubles. You will also have to pay 500 rubles for its replacement.
- Let coolpump and try to start the motor again.
DPKV problem
Another common element that affects the start of the engine "hot" is the DPKV (crankshaft position sensor). Quite often, it refuses to work when the engine temperature rises. This is one of the elements without which the operation of the entire system is generally impossible. After replacing the DPKV, everything returns to normal for many car owners. Therefore, when your VAZ car does not start well when hot, it makes sense to try replacing this sensor. It costs a penny (new in the region of 500-600 rubles, although you can look for used ones). You can even replace it yourself, you just need to know where it is and have a screwdriver on hand. Finding out its location on each car is not a problem - all the information is on the Web.
Problem starting on gas
HBO has settled under the hoods of many cars. This system allows you to save a lot, but at the same time it is quite capricious. If your engine runs on gas, and after a short downtime, there are problems with starting, then it is better to contact a service station. The reasons why a hot engine does not start well can be different. It cannot be ruled out that the expansion of the gas in the tank created additional pressure, due to which the ratio of gas and air mixture changed. This can be the cause of poor starting of the motor when hot. The same crankshaft position sensor should not be ruled out either. It may not work well regardless of whether it worksengine on gas or gasoline.
In closing
If you find that the injector does not start well when hot, it is advisable to contact the service center. Independently, a person is not able to identify the cause and even more so to eliminate it. Advice on the Internet will not help, unless you can describe your situation in specialized forums as accurately and in detail as possible. Each individual engine, even within the same brand of vehicle, is a unique individual organism and failures may not be typical of other engines.
We only named the main elements of the internal combustion engine system, which may be faulty in the first place with such a breakdown. An exact "diagnosis" will be made at the service station. But also note that many owners do not pay attention to this and quietly ride for many years.

Why won't the car start when hot?
It is often difficult to start the engine in winter, when the outside temperatures are very, very low. However, it often happens that carburetor engines begin to show their "whims".
