Car depreciation is a thing familiar to every professional mechanic and just an amateur driver. This system was developed about a hundred years ago when the first machine appeared. Cars with hydraulic shock absorbers gained particular popularity during the Great Patriotic War. Their main task is to reduce vibrations and mitigate shocks. This way they provide safety and comfort while driving.

Depreciation features

Therefore, such catalysts should perform two tasks: if the car's damping is set for a hard ride, the car's control will be more accurate, but staying in the cabin will cause discomfort, both for the driver and passengers. As a rule, trucks and military vehicles are equipped with such systems. Although in the second case it all depends on the type of cargo. If the damping of the car is set to a soft ride, then the car will be less precise in control. On the other hand, it will be comfortable to be in the cabin.

Depreciation tasks

Also, shock absorbers are responsible for the contact of the wheels with the road, which is also one of the guarantees of safety, since the main cause of accidents is a loss of control. Proper depreciation of the car is the most important factor that is responsible for driving the car. When shock absorbers fail, even good brakes and tires don't keep the car in good contact with the road.

Mounting shock absorbers

However, there are no shock absorbers that fit all cars and roads. This is a precise part that is tuned to the suspension of a certain model and often to the roads of the region in which the car will be used. Therefore, shock absorber manufacturers must take into account the ratio of comfort and safety, as well as the technical characteristics of the car and the road. This takes into account several different types of a similar part.

New car depreciation

2012 was the starting year in terms of introducing hydraulic softening systems into the field of mechanical engineering, which operate on the principle of viscous friction. These shock absorbers are telescopic, single-tube with or without gas pressure, two-pipe. It should be noted that there are misconceptions here, for example, in the classification: gas, gas-oil and oil. The correct classification of types of shock absorbers will be:

  1. Shock absorbers with high pressure gas boost (gas).
  2. Shock absorbers with low pressure gas boost (gas-oil).
  3. Shock absorbers without gas boost.

Consequently, the gas-oil shock absorber will also be gas. Only the gas spring is a gas shock absorber, and it is used to protect the hood or trunk lid.

In a gas-oil shock absorber, gas boost does not greatly affect a hard-tuned catalyst, but under heavy loads it increases the accuracy of the characteristics. But this difference in constant driving is not noticeable.

Counting expenses

As a rule, the depreciation of a car is calculated based on the fuel used (suitable for class C cars with a 1.5-2.0 liter engine). To put it simply, we write out all the planned operating costs per 100,000 km, taking into account the use of filters, light bulbs, brake pads, tires, etc., we add 10-15% for unplanned expenses (unscheduled repairs). Such examples are given in car magazines (when calculating the average cost of 1 km of run).
