Mercedes McLaren is a famous German supercar produced from 2003 to 2009 by the world famous German company. This car is interesting in that it was developed and produced not only by Mercedes, but also by McLaren Automotive. Thus, it turned out to be their joint project.

Mercedes McLaren is often classified as a supercar. However, many critics have a different opinion. They say it's more of a super GT car. Mercedes' closest competitors in this case are the Ferrari 599 GTB and the Aston Martin Vanquish.
One of the main goals of the developers was to combine in this car the features of a supercar and the specifics of cars belonging to the GT class. This is a very important part. Under the hood of this car, a 626-horsepower 8-cylinder engine is installed, which is controlled by a 5-speed automatic transmission. Up to a hundred kilometers, this car can acceleratein 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 334 km/h.
The power unit itself has a horizontal central position, due to which it was possible to maintain the stability of the Mercedes on the track. But many believe that because of this arrangement of the motor, the car received an overly low landing. However, because of this, the center of gravity is located quite low. And this had a positive effect on the handling of the car. "Mercedes" feels different, not like a regular GT car, so it takes some getting used to. However, this specificity is rather a positive nuance than a negative one.
Versions and modifications
In 2006, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition was introduced to the public. Its feature is a 650-horsepower engine, 19-inch alloy wheels, hard-tuned suspension, 10-centimeter ground clearance and a maximum of 337 km/h. And there is also an AMG version. Its power is 722 horsepower. The company claims it is the most powerful SLR ever. The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren turned out pretty fast. Its price was 675,000 dollars. A total of 30 of these models were released.
Then the 722 GT came out with a 680 horsepower engine. This Mercedes cost $750,000. It was followed by "Roadster" - an open version, which became "heavier" coupe by 60 kilograms. The maximum of this car was 332 km / h, and the cost was 493,000 dollars. Behind him came the Roadster 722 S(with a 5.5-liter 650-horsepower engine), and then the SLR McLaren Stirling Moss, reaching "hundreds" in 3.5 seconds, with a maximum of 350 km / h. How much does a Mercedes-Benz McLaren cost? Its price is 1,200,000 euros. And this money is worth such a powerful GT car with a 5.5-liter 650-horsepower unit.
The latest version was the 2010 SLR McLaren Edition with a carbon fiber body kit, double diffuser and reconfigured steering. 5.4-liter 650-horsepower engine under the hood and a top speed of 340 km / h - only 25 of these models were produced.
