VAZ-21103 - a modification of one of the most popular AvtoVAZ models in its entire history

VAZ-21103 is one of the best modifications of the tenth generation sedans. Its characteristic feature is an improved sixteen-valve engine (volume 1.5 l).

This version was born already in the new millennium, although the first documentary evidence of the idea of a fundamentally new model existed back in 1983. The car was conceived as a sedan, and its layouts looked suspiciously like the Ford and Opel models of those years. At that time, the project had not been approved. Later, after the release of the beloved 99th model, the designers returned to work on a forgotten car, which was destined to become a real flagship among all AvtoVAZ models for many years to come. During the design process, several prototypes were used with the working names "100", "200", "300". With the first two, work was soon stopped due to their futility, then work together with Porsche specialists was carried out exclusively on the 300 project.

Serial production of the sedan began in 1996 with the basic version, years later it wasseveral modifications were released, including the VAZ-21103. The technical characteristics of the new car were extremely different from the entire previous model range. Galvanization of individual body parts, adjustable steering column, gasoline vapor recovery system, on-board control system, ventilated brake discs - this is not the whole list of innovations that the VAZ-21103 boasts. Feedback from buyers who switched to a new sedan boiled down to one thing - this is really the most comfortable and stylish car that AvtoVAZ had produced by that time.

As for the power unit, at first it was 69 liters. With. engines that have proven themselves well before. A little later, it was decided to equip cars with 8-valve engines (79 hp, 1.5 l) with distributed fuel injection. Such a power unit simultaneously showed good power and demonstrated relatively low fuel consumption. The motor allowed to accelerate to "hundreds" in 14 seconds, and the maximum speed was 170 km/h.

A 16-valve version of the 94 hp engine was also provided. With. for active drivers. Such an engine allows the car to demonstrate improved dynamic qualities, and cars with similar engines received the VAZ-21103 index. Such a motor is already able to accelerate a car up to 185 km / h. In addition to the modifications mentioned, you can also find on the roads a 2-liter 150-horsepower engine with a point injection system. There are also all-wheel drive versions of the tenth generation sedan, howeverthey are usually sporty or all-terrain in nature, therefore, as a rule, limited-edition or experimental.

VAZ-21103 is designed from scratch. Like it or not, but it was with this model that a new era began in the domestic automotive industry. Modern design, good aerodynamics, roomy trunk, efficiency - all this speaks in favor of the "ten". At the same time, the lack of the necessary options and the poor quality of components are affecting, and therefore, in order to compare with foreign counterparts was not in their favor, there is still work to be done.
