The automobile association BelAZ has released another "monster". The new truck is considered the largest in the post-Soviet space and one of the largest in the world. BelAZ-75600 is a huge dump truck designed for work in quarries, in addition, it is actively used in the Kuzbass workings. The car is 9.2 meters wide, 14.5 meters long, and 7.2 meters high. With such dimensions, the giant has a mass of 250 tons, and its carrying capacity is designed for 320 tons.

Powertrain overview

The truck in question is equipped with a Cummins QSK 78-C diesel power plant. Its power is three and a half thousand horsepower at a couple of thousand revolutions per minute, there is a starting pneumatic starter system. The engine capacity is 78 liters. The cooling unit is equipped with an adjustable impeller, which makes it possible to operate the car in hot and sub-zero temperatures.

The friction parts are supplied with oil by a full-flow filtration system with four pump units. The power unit of the BelAZ-75600 is equipped with electronics, which minimizes the human factor in controlling its operation modes.

With this volume and power, the motor consumes relatively littlefuel. In terms of 1 kW of power, about 200 grams of fuel is consumed. The volume of the fuel tank allows you to work uninterruptedly for 16 hours. The traction generator with a capacity of more than 2.5 thousand kW is driven by a motor and is designed to feed a pair of Siemens electric motors with a total power of 2,400 kW.

Chassis

BelAZ-75600, whose height is commensurate with a three-story house, is equipped with a space-type frame made of high-strength alloy steel sheet elements. Cast parts reinforce the structure in places of maximum loads. Despite the impressive dimensions, the dump truck can turn around on a 33-meter platform. This is possible thanks to the short base, which provides good maneuverability.

Belarusian giant has a standard basic formula - four wheels, a pair of which is leading. The front axle is equipped with a dependent suspension with a pneumohydraulic unit. The rear wheel drive uses a linkage assembly with a central pivot. This design provides high stability of the truck and ease of control. Compared to analogues, the dynamic load on the driver is reduced by 2-3 times.

Other data

The brakes of the BelAZ-75600 dump truck consist of a pair of hydraulic circuits, and this also applies to the parking block. The locking system also uses traction motors that switch to generator mode and act on coolingbraking resistors. In an emergency, the parking brake and operating circuit of the main unit are activated.

The body of the car is placed from 140 to 200 cubic meters of slag or rock, depending on the degree of loading. Additional safety is provided by a massive visor. The cabin is designed for two people, meets all standards of ergonomics and safety. A video review system and a convenient control system are provided. Three pedals are installed, but instead of the usual clutch, a retarder brake is installed here. Cruise control also monitors the speed control on the descent. The speedometer and engine speed sensors light up on the display. Each tubeless wheel of the vehicle in question weighs about eight tons and requires a special forklift to install.

BelAZ-75600, whose technical characteristics are simply unrealistic to compare with domestic trucks, is designed to transport minerals, quarry workings and other bulk cargo off public roads.

Some fans of huge vehicles are wondering what size of rectangular headlights the BelAZ-75600 has? In fact, the light elements of this colossus have a standard size for heavy vehicles. There is no need for reinforced searchlights, since the workings, according to safety regulations, are carried out during daylight hours. And the rectangular elements the size of washing machines that could be mistaken for headlights are air filters.

Modifications

There are two more modifications in the BelAZ-75600 line, which differ in engines and load capacity. Here is a brief overview of each:

1. Model 75601. The truck is capable of transporting up to 360 tons of cargo, equipped with an MTU 20V400 power plant. Power - 2.8 thousand kW, Kato rotary generator. The engine is coupled to the wheels through a combination of an electric motor and a two-row planetary gearbox. The systems are integrated into the rear wheels fitted with 59/80 R63 tires. The total weight of the dump truck reaches 610 thousand kg, the cargo volume is 218 cubic meters. The maximum acceleration of the car is 64 km/h.
2. Option 75602. The largest dump truck from the series under consideration can carry a load weighing 360 tons, it is equipped with a diesel engine 1 TB330-2GA03, which allows transporting increased weight. The developers, in addition, managed to reduce fuel consumption to 198 g/kWh.

Test in action

BelAZ-75600, whose characteristics are not suitable forordinary roads, can be tested exclusively in the field, or rather, at his usual workplace. Even the deliveries of these cars are carried out by rail in disassembled form or on cargo planes.

It's not that hard to get started with this "monster". It is enough to switch the toggle switch to the "forward" position, press the gas and release the handbrake. The cabin looks very small compared to the general exterior. In fact, it is a two-seater, equipped with rollover protection and air conditioning. The car moves smoothly, absolutely no shocks and obstacles are felt. It is not easy to get used to the dimensions of such a giant right away.

The steering is soft and light thanks to the excellent power steering. The electric transmission eliminates the need to activate the maneuvering of the diesel in the repair zone, two brake pedals are responsible for timely braking, cruise control helps on the descent. The standard disc brake is used for the final stop, and the main function is performed by the retarder. The car is excellent in tight turns, despite its size.

Conclusion

The huge BelAZ-75600 dump truck, the photo of which is posted above, is rightfully the largest truck in the CIS. The car is in demand in quarry workings, capable of transporting more than three hundred tons of cargo at a time. As a rule, such units are operated to the maximum in order to work out their cost, which exceeds a million dollars per unit.

Machine in questionis a direct competitor among similar "monsters" at the world level. And this applies to both dimensions, load capacity and price. There are not so many such trucks in the world. All of them are involved in heavy industries and interact with equally powerful and impressive excavators and loaders.
