The Russian manufacturer AvtoVAZ is not only Granta, Kalina, Vesta and other production models. There are several more cars in the lineup that few people know about, because they did not go into the series. Despite the fact that they are not assembled on conveyors and are not sold in the capital's car dealerships, these cars are known to car lovers - they are just not a mass product. It is worth talking about one of these machines. This is the Lada Roadster (photo will be presented later in our article), created in Tolyatti, and the Crimea, developed by students of the Moscow State Technical University. Bauman.

This domestic concept managed to attract special attention at the MIMS 2000 auto show in the capital. The car was designed and built under the guidance of designer Sergey Nuzhny. From the history of the domestic roadster

Implementation features

However, later in the leadership of AvtoVAZ they decided to change the design of Kalina. The creators of the concept car had the freedom of creativity. As a result, it was possible to completely avoid copying the basic version. The team offered the public something new, but at the same time similar to Kalina.

As the car became more complete, and at the same time the date of the Moscow Motor Show was getting closer and closer, AvtoVAZ decided that they could show another concept car. Reviews indicate that the "Lada Roadster" at the presentation turned out to be a little raw. And if the "Roadster" from AvtoVAZ was created by professionals, then the roadster "Crimea" based on the "Lada Kalina" was created exclusively by the hands of students and teachers of the Moscow State Technical University. "Crimea" inside

Everyone is familiar with the unremarkable interior of Kalina 2. But "Lada Krym" is a roadster, which has practically no similarities with the brainchild of AvtoVAZ inside. The interior of the concept car looks very interesting.

The interior is finished in bright orange Alcantara. There is a sports steering wheel. All this attracts attention - a very unnatural design for a domestic car. From Kalina, the concept got the front panel, however, it was redesigned. All other interior details and elements were created at the university.

Design Features

A space frame made of pipes was made as a supporting structure. But she remained only in the first prototype. The second version of the roadster will be created on the basis of a box-shaped structure made of sheet materials, additionally reinforced with stiffeners. Round pipes are also used as safety arches. Body parts are made of composite fiber, fiberglass, and carbon fiber. Polyester and epoxy resins have also been used. The matrices were created based on a full-size model of the car.

Glasses - self-developed. The roof and its mechanism were also created by the Bauman team. The upper part was made on the basis of three rigid elements, which are interconnected by power units and folding rods. The guys also created optical instruments with their own hands. The cases were made entirely by hand. The glasses are also original. The suspension system is a self-created project, except for some components from the second generation of Kalina. Geometric characteristics and suspension kinematics have been completely redone.

This roadster differs from the base "Kalina" in the longitudinal and transverse angles of inclination of the axis of rotation of the wheel, as well as other minor details. The rear suspension is the same as the front one from the factory "Kalina", however, with a different geometry. Reconfigured dampers and springs.

Dimensions

The car is 3848 mm long and 1679 mm wide. The wheelbase is 2470 mm. Height - only 1195 mm.

Power section

The Bauman team decided to use the VAZ-2127 engine as a power unit. Its power is 106 liters. with., and the torque is 148 Nm. Transmission - VAZ-2181. Both the unit and the box are serial. In the future, it is planned to equip the Krym roadster based on the Lada with a turbocharger and offer various power options up to 200 hp.
