In 1998, mass production of the sedan started, and up to 2000, 29 thousand of them were produced. The five-door station wagon was the last version of the E46 produced until 2001.

The updated BMW 328 F30 is a sports car designed for those who love speed and dynamic driving. Despite the outwardresemblance to older models, the sedan received an original air intake in the front bumper and stretched head optics, smoothly turning into a radiator grille. The rear optics are made in the corporate style of the fifth BMW series.

F30 is larger than the previous model. By increasing the wheelbase, it was possible to expand the free space for rear passengers and the volume of the luggage compartment to 480 liters.

In the basic configuration, the car is equipped with a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the BMW 328 F30 is equipped with Drive Performance Control and a mechatronic chassis, allowing the driver to customize various vehicle controls.

Modification 328i was originally considered the basic version of the sedan and was equipped with a two-liter gasoline engine with 245 horsepower. Acceleration to 100 km/h was 5.9 seconds, top speed was 250 km/h.

The top modification of the F30 is the 335i, equipped with a 3-liter six-cylinder engine with 306 horsepower. Acceleration time to hundreds with such an engine was reduced to 5.5 seconds, but the maximum speed, however, was limited to the same 250 km/h.

The range of diesel power units is represented by two-liter turbocharged engines with a capacity of 163 and 184 horsepower. In the spring of 2012, the F30 began to be equipped with more modest diesel engines with a capacity of 116 and 143horsepower and a gasoline power unit with a capacity of 184 horsepower. Despite the reduced power, the power units were distinguished by good dynamism and reliability.
