Car alarm is one of the most effective car anti-theft systems today. A modern device can provide maximum protection for a vehicle from theft. However, in order for expectations to be justified, you first need to choose a good signaling. But purchasing a device is only half the battle. The alarm still needs to be installed. How to do it right, let's take a look.
Do-it-yourself car alarm installation - tool preparation
First you need to prepare all the necessary appliances and tools. In our case, in order for the installation of a do-it-yourself car alarm with autostart to be successful, you will need a multimeter (a device that measures the voltage level in an electrical circuit and its resistance), pliers, scissors, a pair of Phillips and minus screwdrivers, andalso several meters of wires.
Having prepared all the tools, you can safely get to work. But before taking on a car alarm device, do-it-yourself installation begins with a complete de-energization of the electrical circuit. To do this, remove the negative terminal from the battery. Next, you need to decide where the car alarm will be located. This device can be placed in absolutely any part of the car, however, it is important to observe that this place is not frequently exposed to dust and moisture. It is advisable to install it not in hard-to-reach places. It is also worth considering where to place car alarm sensors. Do-it-yourself installation should be carried out in places where there is no radio or other devices nearby that create radio frequency interference. Don't forget the sensitivity controls. On some models of the device, they may not be adjusted, so after completing work, check the sensors for sensitivity to shock.
Further, according to the electrical circuit and car alarm devices, do-it-yourself installation is accompanied by connecting wires. We cannot give a specific scheme, since each device has its own connection points. When installing the light indication wires, choose which part of the optics you want to use - side lights or low beam headlights. Pay attention to the polarity when connecting the alarm. As for the wires, they are connected by soldering.or twisting to standard terminals. Don't forget about insulation. This will protect you from a sudden short circuit in the car's electrical circuit.
At the last stage, the sound siren is installed. It must be mounted in such a way that moisture does not get on it. It is installed under the hood, and where exactly - you can choose for yourself. By the way, the direction of the siren can also be adjusted by yourself. Now it remains to connect the battery terminal back and check the operation of the car alarm. DIY installation is now complete.
