Sixteen years ago, the Ferrari Enzo sports car was first presented at a motor show in France. This model is also referred to as the F60 Enzo, but there was a lot of time before the sixtieth anniversary of the company, so the name was dedicated to the founder of the concern: Enzo Ferrari. The Italian company has always been famous for its sports cars. Let's get acquainted with the model that is different from all the others.
Historical background
Between 2002 and 2004, when cars were produced, 400 supercars rolled off the assembly line. The motor impressed with its characteristics: 660 horsepower with 6 liters of cylinder capacity. The rear-wheel drive model was sold at a price of $660,000 (37.8 million rubles), but despite such a price, the demand for it was high.
The developers wanted to create a unique look that would raise the design bar to a new level. The designers thought of every detail, and the designers and engineers combined their ideas with the technical part, which provided excellent dynamic performance.
Appearance
Ferrari Enzo based on racing carsF1 competition. The result was a body of the following dimensions: length - 4702 mm, height - 1147 mm, width - 2035 mm. The material used was carbon fiber with Kevlar inserts. The mass of the car at rest is 1365 kg, but at 100 km / h this value increases to almost 2 tons.
The shape of the front bumper makes it clear that we have a sports car. The elongated central part resembles the nose of a hawk, rapidly rushing down for prey. Recesses are made in the hood to increase the dynamic performance of the Ferrari Enzo. Rear-view mirrors are located on the wings of the wheel arches, which provide excellent visibility due to their removal to the sides.
The head optics are recessed deep into the wings and covered with high quality glass, which ensures safety when small objects hit at high speed.
The low roof line blends into the rear compartment lid, which houses a small spoiler. The rear fenders feature oversized air intakes that not only provide cooling, but also give a dramatic Italian look.
From the side projection, it is clearly seen that the back has an elongated shape. This is due to the placement of the engine behind the driver and passenger. Not to mention Ferrari's signature five-pointed alloy wheels.
But the most important feature of the appearance of the Ferrari Enzo is the way the doors open. They go up, and the angle is 45degrees allows you to easily climb into the cabin.
Italian's salon
The interior of the Italian supercar is a storehouse of functionality. Black carbon, aluminum and even leather - all this does not create any attraction. More like the interior space of the ordinary. At the same time, by visual assessment, the 2004 Ferrari Enzo is far inferior to its competitors.
The emphasis in the cabin is on the functionality of the cockpit. In front of the driver is the steering wheel, which has many settings and controls for additional car options. The dashboard is made in the traditional Ferrari style.
Two large yellow dials display the speed and engine speed (shown in the photo of the Ferrari Enzo). The backlight looks quite impressive, but at the same time pretentious and unusual. All buttons on the front console are illuminated by LED elements. Inside, everything is replete with the presence of carbon fiber.
With all the capabilities of the car, the interior is very cramped. This is not only the result of the use of black colors, but also the presence of small windows that let in little light. As is customary with sports car manufacturers, seat buckets are made to order. Therefore, not every person will be able to accommodate comfortably in it.
By the way, there is no back row at all, the rear glass of the engine compartment cover is placed behind the driver's head.
Technical equipment
Ferrari Enzo V12 engine with a capacity of 6 liters produces a maximum of 660 horsepower. Excellent torque allowsovercome the speedometer readings of 100 km / h already after 3.3 seconds. A six-speed robotized gearbox, together with rear-wheel drive, allows you to accelerate to 348 km / h.
In 2002 it was the fastest and most expensive sports car in the world. Many famous models were created on its basis, including the famous Aston Martin.
Car Features
A distinctive feature of the technical equipment is the low placement of components and assemblies. As a result, the center of gravity is the same as that of racing cars. Fuel tanks are installed between the cab and the wall of the engine compartment. Their volume is 110 liters.
The motor is fixed at two points through silent blocks, and the gearbox is at one. This design reduces vibration on the body. The front of the monocoque has aluminum honeycombs to absorb the energy of a frontal impact.
As with all sports cars, the Ferrari Enzo uses carbon-ceramic brake discs for reliable braking. They are considered durable when used in any conditions. Super low profile tires keep ground clearance at an unrealistically low level.
Interesting fact
During the global economic crisis in 2008, the company had a hard time. Subsequently, the manufacturer put up for sale a large number of "Enzo" with a total value of about 1,600,000 US dollars (95 million rubles). These were models at record low prices.
One of the lucky ones who managed to get a sports car wasBritish businessman based in the United Arab Emirates.
He did not manage to be content with cars for long. Due to a traffic violation, the court sentenced the Briton to pay a fine of $30,000 (1.7 million rubles) or a prison term. The solution was found quickly - the businessman abandoned the car and fled.
Supercar stood in a fine parking lot for almost 2 years under the scorching sun. As a result, without waiting for the owner, the government put the Ferrari up for auction.
Relevance of the model in Russia
Many car enthusiasts still dream of the Ferrari Enzo, but it will most likely remain on the wish list. The number of produced cars is 359 pieces, each costing about 45,500,000 rubles.
The exclusivity of a sports car is a positive aspect, but there are also disadvantages. Replacing a wheel will cost the owner a pretty penny, since not every car service will be ready to help you. Spare parts are purchased exclusively to order, and it will take a long time to wait for them. Initially, you will need to send a request to the factory, then there will be a check - whether you really are the owner of the car, and only after that the order will be sent to you.
Despite all the difficulties associated with owning a sports monocoque, there are now many who want to buy this luxury vehicle. It is only worth saying that if you purchase, you will be included in the list of lucky people who own this masterpiece of Italian production.
