Over the past eight years, the composition of the first-aid kit has remained unchanged, but drivers who bought it after the changes in the legislation in 2010 are required to replace it in a timely manner. Order
In September 2009, Order No. 697n was signed, according to which a first-aid kit with a composition according to GOST must be present in the passenger compartment of vehicles. The signed order entered into force on July 1, 2010. The main objective of this law was to make changes to the kit of the car first aid kit and equip it with new drugs and products.
On the territory of the Russian Federation, first-aid kits with a composition consistent with the Technical Specifications, standards that are commercial and intellectual property of the developer, are allowed for use.
Composition of the first aid kit according to GOST
The legislation in force on the territory of the Russian Federation requires that the equipment of a vehicle moving along the roads of the country includes not only an emergency sign and a fire extinguisher, but also a first aid kit. Often inexpensive car first-aid kits include low-quality medical products: loose bandages, scissors with blunt blades, and so on. In this regard, drivers often complete car first-aid kits on their own, purchasing high-quality drugs and materials.
Additional products
According to the recommendation, additional medical preparations and products not stipulated by the approved order and current legislation may be included in the car first-aid kit. These include medicines that stop bleeding, painkillers, and eliminate inflammation.
Additional medicines and products are selected by the car owner independently. Despite this, the driver must know exactly the expiration date of the medicines and change them in time.
What should not be included in a first aid kit
Law-abiding drivers should know not only the composition of the car first-aid kit, but also products and items that should not be contained in it. According to the new law, medical kits for vehicles should not include medicines. The lack of medicines is due to several reasons:
- Most of the people who provide first aid in the event of an accident do not have the necessary medical knowledge and do not know the exact use of drugs in specific circumstances.
- The use of medicines without proper experience and knowledge can be harmful if a particular person has contraindications to certain drugs.
- It is impossible to provide suitable conditions for storing medicines in the cabin of a vehicle with regular temperature fluctuations.
- Medicines included in old car kits are not emergency medicines.
According to statistics, the vast majority of deaths in road traffic accidents are the result of critical blood loss to the victims, and therefore, in the composition of new kits, the emphasis is on the means to quickly stop the bleeding. Accordingly, pharmacological preparations, iodine, brilliant green and ammonia are not included in car first-aid kits.
Expiry date of car first aid kits
The first-aid kit "FEST" of the new composition has a three times longer shelf life, which is 4.5 years. Such a significant extension of the shelf life was achievedbe achieved by removing medicines that become unusable in a short time from the first aid kit. After the expiration date of the first-aid kit, the car owner must replace it within six months.
On the front side of the first-aid kit case, the date of manufacture, expiration date and date of replacement of the kit are indicated. In the updated composition, tourniquets and patches have the minimum permitted period of use (5-6 years).

When purchasing and using the kit, the driver must know:
- Products included in the list of mandatory items in the first aid kit cannot be replaced by any other items selected by him at his own request. The composition of the "FEST" car first aid kit can be supplemented independently by purchasing the necessary medicines.
- Products with damaged or expired labels must not be used.
- If certain items were used from the first-aid kit, then it must be re-equipped as soon as possible.
- It is necessary to buy a car first-aid kit only at dealerships or pharmacies.

You can buy such medical care kits only at dealerships or pharmacies. Before purchasing a first aid kit, you need to make sure the quality of the products included in it and the integrity of the case itself. The cost of these kits may vary depending on where exactly they are purchased, their manufacturer and the quality of the materials used.
The minimum cost of car kits is 160 rubles, but the quality of such kits leaves much to be desired. Prices for more reliable kits - for example, car first-aid kits "FEST" - start at 300 rubles.
