Since the beginning of the First World War, three destroyers called "Fast" served in the Russian Navy at different times.
Destroyer Fast (1914)
The first ship belonging to the class of destroyers with the name "Fast" was launched in 1914 as part of the "Program for the hasty strengthening of the Black Sea Fleet". Since 1925, he began to bear the name "Frunze". It had a displacement of 1.46 tons with a length of a little less than 100 m, its two steam turbines developed a capacity of 23 thousand liters. with., the maximum speed was 34 knots, the cruising range was 1.7 thousand miles at a speed of 21 knots.
Since launching, armed with three and then four 102 mm guns, two anti-aircraft guns, first 47 caliber, and later 76 mm, and torpedo tubes.
This "Fast" destroyer, which fought on the Black Sea during the First World War, was seriously damaged, due to which the Civil War stood in the Sevastopol military port.
From 1923 to 1927 he underwent modernization and re-equipment, from the first days of World War II, already under the name "Frunze", he participated in the escort of transport ships, in the setting of minefields anddefense of Odessa. It sank in September 1941 during a raid by nine Ju-87 dive bombers in the area of the Tendra Spit at a shallow depth.
Destroyer Fast (1936)
The second destroyer "Fast" was launched in November 1936. Its displacement was already 2.4 thousand tons, the capacity of the boiler and turbine plant was 56 thousand liters. s., maximum speed - up to 39 knots, cruising range at 19.5 knots - 2.5 thousand miles.
In addition to artillery pieces, anti-aircraft guns, machine guns and torpedo tubes, the destroyer carried a BMB-1 bomb launcher, ten large and twenty small depth charges.
This "Fast" - a destroyer, also assigned to the Black Sea Fleet, did not have time to fight, but was sunk twice, and already in the first summer of World War II died almost at the same time as the "Frunze".
The bow was used to restore the same type of destroyer "Merciless", and the coastal battery was equipped with guns. After the war, the destroyer was raised and cut into metal.
Destroyer Fast (1987)
The third ship named "Fast" was launched at the end of November 1987, and it is still in service. Its total displacement is 7.9 thousand tons, two boiler-turbine units develop a capacity of 100 thousand liters. s., maximum speed - 33, 4 knots, at an economical speed of 18 knots, the cruising range is almost 4 thousand miles. The Project 956 destroyer of the "Sarych" type can stay in autonomous navigation for thirty days. According to the NATO code "Fast" refers to the Sovremenny class destroyer.
This "Quick" -a destroyer that already carries missile weapons and an aviation group. On board, in addition to AK-130 artillery mounts, P-270 Moskit anti-ship missile launchers and Uragan air defense systems, as well as a Ka-27 helicopter, are placed. As anti-submarine weapons, the ship is equipped with two rocket-propelled six-barreled RBU-1000 naval bombers and two twin-tube torpedo tubes with 4 SET-65 torpedoes, and four six-barreled anti-aircraft guns AK-630 from anti-aircraft weapons.
During different periods of service, Bystry changed three tail numbers: it was launched under No. 676, in 1991 it was assigned No. 786, and in 1993 - No. 715.
How the destroyer "Fast" began its service
The Pacific Fleet accepted a new ship into its ranks in 1989. The destroyer made the transition to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, which lasted almost two months, in 1990 together with the flagship of the Pacific Fleet, the missile cruiser Chervona Ukraine, which five years later received the name Varyag. During the long passage, the ships called at the port of Cam Ranh in Vietnam. The Cam Ranh base at that time was a logistics point for Soviet ships and submarines.
Before that, in the summer of 1990, "Fast", together with the guard ship "Indomitable" and "Chervona Ukraina", paid a friendly visit to the port of Kiel (Germany). While maneuvering, the destroyer collided with a German frigate. The incident ended with no damage to the ship called the Swift.
The destroyer at the same time was included in the forces of the permanentreadiness. At the end of 1990, already in the Sea of Japan, he provided testing of a submarine and at the end of the year was named the best in training and protection against weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
In 1991, exercises were conducted to ensure anti-submarine and air defense of heavy aircraft-carrying cruisers (TAKR), and in August - joint exercises in the Sea of Japan, the destroyer Bystry also took part in them.
The ship took first place in artillery firing at a sea target among the first rank aircraft at the KChF, therefore, as part of a ship strike group (KG), together with the destroyer Boevoy, it received the prize of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy.
Service in the Russian Navy
In 1992, the destroyer "Bystry" in the Amur Bay on the large anti-submarine ship "Admiral Zakharov" helped to extinguish a fire, in the Sea of Japan participated in a search anti-submarine operation, where there were at least six contacts with submarines of a potential enemy.
In 1993, "Fast" was demonstrated to the Commander-in-Chief of the Chinese Navy, as part of a group of ships visited the Chinese port of Qingdao on an official visit (however, he came there in tow due to a bearing failure) and the port of Busan (South Korea). During this year, the destroyer covered 4.5 thousand nautical miles.
He traveled seven thousand miles over the next three years, winning twice the Navy Commander-in-Chief's Competitive Missile Shooting and Missile Training Prizes.
In 1997, "Fast" accompanied the submarine missile cruiser APLK-50 returning from combat service and was put into reservefirst category at the end of 1998.
Performed a similar task in 2004 with the K-565 submarine, escorted the PM-74 and the large landing ship BDK-98 "Admiral Nevelskoy" to Kamchatka and back.
In 2010, during a fire in the engine room, sailor Aldar Tsydenzhapov, who was putting out the fire, received severe burns. Posthumously, he received the title of "Hero of the Russian Federation".
In the summer of 2013, a large military-historical maritime "Campaign of Memory" took place, in which the destroyer "Fast" also took part. It lasted 25 days, and in it the ships traveled more than 4 thousand miles.
The destroyer "Fast" looks menacing (see photo below), what can I say. And not only looks - it was not without reason that he took first place in missile firing at sea targets between ships of the first and second ranks.
In the spring of 2014, Bystry took part in the Maritime Interaction-2014 exercise, which was conducted by Russia and China.
And they finished their campaign in the Pacific Ocean…
The last voyage of the destroyer "Fast" ended quite recently. In November 2015, the flagship of the Pacific Fleet, the Varyag guided missile cruiser, the Bystry destroyer, the BMT (large offshore tanker) Boris Butoma, and the Alatau rescue tugboat, sailed from Vladivostok to the Indian port of Visakhapatnam.
The cruiser "Varyag" was modernized more than once, in 2015 it was overhauled.
The tanker "Boris Butoma" is intended for the complex supply of ships of the Pacific FleetRussia.
In the Indian Ocean, the Indian Navy and ships of the Pacific Fleet conducted joint exercises, including the destroyer Bystry. Maritime exercises "Indra Navy-2015" were held in the waters of the Bay of Bengal. After the exercises, the Varyag went on a solo voyage. He met the New Year 2016 in the Mediterranean Sea.
The destroyer "Bistry" with escort ships, having visited ports in Indonesia - Tanjung Priok, in North Vietnam - Danang, and in China - Shanghai, at the end of January 2016, after passing 15 thousand miles, returned to Vladivostok.
From the moment of its construction in more than a quarter of a century, the destroyer Bystry has traveled almost 44,000 miles. At various times, 13 people from his crews were awarded government awards.
Where is the destroyer "Fast" now? He is still in service…

Since 2012, Kazakhstan switched to license plates of a new format. They are much closer to international and more convenient.
