The technical characteristics of the UAZ "Loaf", the production of which was launched back in the Soviet Union, are impressive. After all, this universal all-wheel drive vehicle is the prototype of most modern SUVs produced in post-Soviet countries. Despite the fact that this model went into production back in 1965, it has remained virtually unchanged, and therefore it is impossible to detect obvious differences between the first copies and cars released more recently.
The car got its nickname because of the body. Its shape resembles a bread loaf. However, this did not prevent the growth of its popularity among the population, because the UAZ-452 was purchased not for the sake of external data, but for confident off-road movement.

The developers of the Ulyanovsk Machine-Building Plant constantly "conjured", modifying the UAZ-452. As a result, many experimental models were created on its basis. However, it should be noted that the serial production of these copies was never launched.
Design
Initially, the UAZ developers were going to create a car that can easily transport loads with a total weight of up to 800 kg. For this, it was decided to use the GAZ-69 chassis in its design, but during the assembly process it turned out that it was too short and could not withstand such a load. I had to additionally re-equip the body structure, as a result of which the developers created two varieties of UAZ at once: a body (carriage) and an onboard one. The latest version is more popularly known as the "tadpole".
When developing the model, it was decided to make several transverse stiffening ribs on the upper part of the car, which later served as an amplifier for the visual resemblance to a bread loaf. Already in 1958, the design of the car was approved. The Ulyanovsk Machine-Building Plant has begun its mass production.
Please note that the location and designdoors may vary depending on the model modification. So, for example, in the UAZ-452A, the doors open horizontally. On the body are single-leaf doors. At the same time, the rear door of the car consists of two wings for greater convenience.

History of Creation
The first car of this series was named UAZ-450. In it, the engine was located directly under the driver's cab. ATits package included a three-speed gearbox, an engine from GAZ-69 and a transfer case with two steps. It was on its basis that the UAZ-452 "Loaf" was subsequently developed in 1955 and released in 1958, the technical characteristics of which made it one of the most popular models in the Soviet Union.
From that moment on, the development of the plant began to actively gain momentum, thanks to which, already in 1974, the Ulyanovsk Machine-Building Plant produced its millionth car. UAZ was repeatedly awarded the Order of the Red Banner, which could not but add to the popularity of cars among the population.
Changes in the structure of the UAZ-452 were not made until 1985, when it was decided to modify the indices of vehicles manufactured by the Ulyanovsk Machine-Building Plant. Now the UAZ-452 has received a new index - 3741, under which it is still produced.
Modifications
Since the release of the first car of this model, the technical characteristics of the Loaf (UAZ-452) have been repeatedly modified.
