Smart cars are compact cars (small class), which are produced by the company of the same name, which is part of the automotive concern under the world famous name Daimler AG.

Briefly about the company and the first machines

Interestingly, the company producing Smart cars was created not only by Daimler, but also with the participation of a Swiss watch company called Swatch. True, she subsequently withdrew from the project. The main goal was to develop and create a two-seater city car with increased efficiency.

The first model was presented to the public in Frankfurt in 1997. The car had a three-cylinder 0.6-liter turbocharged engine. It produced 45 horsepower and had fuel injection. The unit is located at the back. Accordingly, the model is rear-wheel drive. There was also a version with an engine of 55 horsepower. “Smart ForTu”

The average consumption is even less than that of the previous model - 3.3-4.9 liters, depending on the modification.

“Roadster”

What can please this Smart model? The car is stylish, sporty, featuring an active design and a fairly powerful power unit that accelerates the car to a maximum of 160 km / h. The engine, by the way, produces 61 hp. It is equipped, moreover, with a turbocharger and has a distribution fuel injection. The front suspension features a shock absorber strut and a transverse stabilizer bar. And the rear - with a helical spring, articulated arm and telescopicstabilizer. The front wheels have disc brakes, the rear wheels have drum brakes. Consumption is 6.2 liters in the city, and 4.1 on the highway. The length of the body is 3426 mm - almost a meter longer than the usual compact "Smart".

This Smart car is extremely original. It has a removable central part of the roof, made of transparent plastic. The roof is electric and soft.

“Smart ForFo”

This car is designed for three passengers and a driver. As a matter of fact, that is why it was called “ForFo”. After all, it translates as “for four”. Yes, the car is still small, but there is room for everyone.

The developers have tried to bring the model as close as possible to a sporty driving style. The suspension of the car is moderately stiff, but it is thanks to it that it is possible to smooth out small road bumps. But large potholes and pits are best avoided. At high speeds, the car behaves confidently - no rolls and swaying. It goes well into smooth turns, but if you need to go through a sharp turn, it is better to slow down.

This Smart car has good performance and good equipment. Climate control, heated seats, 4 airbags, original glass roof - in general, everything you need for comfort. By the way, there are several modifications - for 67, 95, 64, 75, 94 and even 109 horsepower.

About interior

So, everyone understands what a Smart car looks like. The photos provided in the article clearly show thisdemonstrate. But what about the interior? Everyone knows that German manufacturers have always tried to make their cars beautiful and harmonious both outside and inside. Smart is no exception. Inside, everything looks very nice and original. The panel pleases - it was sheathed with fabric, and the devices were placed in pretty “wells”. A clock with a coolant temperature gauge was placed in the center. High landing, wide adjustment possibilities - this also cannot but rejoice. Still everything is sustained in a single color scheme - as a rule, bright, but not cutting eyes shades.

Cons? Undoubtedly, they are. Owners note the too small rear window. It does not go well with large rear pillars. This creates "dead zones". Rear-view mirrors, of course, are large, but in this case they do not help much. But well, all cars have flaws.

Cost

The last thing worth talking about is the price. So, the ForFo model, which was mentioned above, manufactured in 2015 (new) can be bought for 950 thousand rubles. Total! Moreover, the model has a 71 hp engine. and top of the range.

The same used model in good condition, but the year 2000 can be purchased for 300-350 thousand rubles. Smart City will cost even cheaper - somewhere around 250-270 tr. A used “Roadster” in good condition, with automatic transmission and an engine of 82 horsepower, tuned by BRABUS, will cost about 520 thousand rubles.
