Getting Started

So, first we need to remove all unnecessary details. These are connecting rods and pistons (if they were previously present). Cylinders must be empty. At the next stage, you need to deal with the appearance of the block. For the best effect, a rust converter must first be applied to the block. But you need to work with it only with rubber gloves, since the composition of the product contains acid. There is another way, more simple. You can sandblast the block. But for this you need to have a special unit. At the end of the work you will need a degreaser. With them we will remove the remnants of grease and dirt that remain on the surface.

Paint work

Now we need to apply a primer. It will give good adhesion to the paint. It is better to apply a primer with a spray gun, but in the absence of such an apparatus, you can use a regular spray can.

As for the paint, it is desirable that it be with imitation of chrome or silver. And the holes in the cylinders can be covered with another enamel. For example, golden paint looks great. Enamel is applied in two or three layers. Each previous one should dry out.

Now we need to install the auxiliary elements. Stainless steel legs should be fixed with M8 bolts. First, you need to make a hole in the cylinder block with a drill. Next, a thread is cut with an M8 tap. The leg must be secured with at least two bolts. Remember that these elements bear the entire weight of the structure.

To make the table even more unusual, you should purchase an LED strip with a power adapter. The tape must be fixed so that it illuminates the holes for the cylinders. Colorcan be very different. But the most impressive is the blue backlight. The tape is powered from a 220 V network through a 12-volt adapter. And you can fix the backlight with epoxy glue.

Now we need to cut off the heads of the hex bolts with a metal file. Next, M8 connecting nuts are welded. Bolts with nuts are screwed into the technological holes of the block, vertically. After that, a piece of chrome-plated pipe is put on them. You can take a pipe 40 centimeters long and divide it into four equal parts of 10 centimeters each. The upper part of the holders is covered with 12 mm washers. Then they are fixed with epoxy glue.

But that's not all. Next, you need to install the glass on the holders. To do this, use epoxy glue again and wait until the structure dries. This completes the assembly of the table from the engine.

Please note that you cannot carry the table by holding on to the glass. That is why the block is installed on movable wheels. We also note that work with epoxy glue should be carried out outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. The glue is highly toxic and can cause dizziness.

Making a bar table

You can make the design not only beautiful, but also more functional. So, alcohol will be stored in the engine cylinders. Paired with backlighting of cold tones, this will be a unique design. To create a bar table from the engine, we need:

1. The block itself.
2. Glass(thickness - 1 centimeter, as in the previous case).
3. Steel rods (8 pieces) with a diameter of 12 millimeters and a length of 50.
4. 8 M6 nuts and equal amount of rubber washers.
5. Furniture wheels and screws.

Pay attention

Unlike the previous version, here we only need a V-shaped block. If you use an in-line one, you will not be able to put and take out bottles. As a basis, you can take a non-working block from an old Japanese car. Also note that the design will be heavier, so the wheels must be strong. And if a 12-cylinder V-block is used, it is better to make the legs completely stationary. To move such a table, you need to make additional handles.

How to prepare and assemble?

Preparation of the block is similar to the previous case. We need to completely get rid of rust and oil marks. After that, a primer and enamel are applied. Next, the wheels are installed in the lower part of the block.

If there are no technological holes, we make them ourselves, with a drill with a die. The rods are placed at the top and cut at an angle to install the glass. Nuts are welded to the upper ends of the rods. The latter must lie in the same plane. 12 mm washers are attached from above and fixed with epoxy glue. The glass itself is attached to the washers with the same glue.
