Types of oils Total
The Total range includes all-weather, summer and winter oils. The type of oil is always indicated on the sticker. It is also possible to select a product based on SAE viscosity. Total oils designed for winter operation: 0W, 5W, 10W, 15W, 20W, 25W. The lower the first number, the lower the temperature, the oil will not lose its viscosity and retain its lubricating properties. For example, a Total oil with a viscosity index of 0W will be able to work normally at -35 degrees, and will allow the engine to start easily at a similar outdoor air temperature.
Oils intended for operation in the summer have the following markings: 20, 30, 40, 50, 60. The number determines the temperature value at which the product will be normalwork.
Given the fact that in Russia the climate changes depending on the season, and the temperature "jumps" from +30 to -30 throughout the year, the ideal option is all-weather oil. Such lubricants have two designations at once, for example, Total 5W40. The line also includes multigrade oils with index 5W30 and 10W40 - they work effectively at low and high temperatures.

It is worth noting that all-season oils have almost completely replaced summer or winter lubricants. And today, in the range of Total engine oils, you cannot find a product that would be intended for summer or winter use. All oils are multigrade. But among them there are products that are better suited for winter, and those that are worth pouring in summer. So Total oils with a viscosity of 0Wxx or 5Wxx are suitable for cold winters, and products with a viscosity of 10Wxx are best used in the southern regions of the country.

One of the most common products is TOTAL QUARTZ INEO MC3 5W-40. According to the manufacturer, it is intended for cars of the Volkswagen, Mercedes, BMW, Porsche brands. In addition to performing the main lubricating functions, the oil also improves the operation of the afterburner catalysts and the phase filter, due to which the amount of gas emissions into the atmosphere is reduced. The product is intended for engines of the modern EURO 5 standard. Total also declares that the oil meets the requirementsapplied to oils with extended drain intervals. Therefore, this lubricant can not be changed after 25-35 thousand kilometers due to oxidation resistance. Nevertheless, given the quality of gasoline in the CIS countries, it is necessary to change it after 10,000-15,000 kilometers.
The INEO line also includes other synthetic products:
- MC3 5W-30 viscosity for German vehicles.
- ECS 5W-30 viscosity with low sulphur, low phosphorus and low sulfate ash content. Recommended for French Citroen and Peugeot cars.
- Synthetic grease EFFICIENCY 0W-30 with high specifications. It is intended for diesel and gasoline engines subjected to heavy loads.
