The Maybach 62 is a luxury executive sedan that has been around for a very long time. In 2002, he was first brought to the attention of critics, fans and potential buyers. About production

Initially it was planned that Maybach 62 cars would be produced in a thousand copies a year. However, it didn't work out as well as it seemed. The total, so to speak, “circulation” for 10 years of production was only 3,000. In 2010, only two hundred cars were released at all. At first, the concern's specialists were inspired by the idea of "surpassing" the well-known models from Rolls-Royce. However, even the Phantom car, released a year later than the Maybach novelty, became more popular. If inIn 2010, “Mabach 62” was released in the amount of 200 pieces, then the model from Rolls-Royce was sold in “circulation” of 2700 copies.

Though the car was amazing in every way, the financial failure of the company overtook. But the fact was that the vast majority of potential buyers saw in this model … a big "Mercedes". By the way, the base from the Mercedes-Benz W140 was taken as a platform. And why pay more (the minimum cost was 400,000 euros at that time in Germany itself), if you can buy an equally powerful and prestigious car?

About model

“Maybach 62” was made in two body styles. More precisely, he was one, but the length was different. There was an option for 5728 mm, as well as for 6165 mm. The wheelbase of the first version was as much as 3390 mm. In the second, it was equal to 3827 mm. Versions can be distinguished even by eye and moreover without a nameplate. The rear door is a “hint” in itself. The Maybach, known as the 57, is shorter than the front. And the 62nd doesn’t have it at all.

Maybach 62 configurations can also be distinguished by some features. More powerful versions boast a radiator grill, which consists not of 20 thin strips arranged vertically, but of eleven thick so-called ribs. And the Maybach 62 S car can be easily recognized by the exhaust pipes. In a regular model, they are not noticeable and are located under the bumper. And the version “S” has been removed from under it.

By the way, in 2007 a model called Landaulet was released. It featured a retractable roofabove the second row of seats.

Interior

Reviews about Maybach 62 are quite interesting. And in most of them, people claim that this is, in fact, a copy of the Mercedes in the back of the W220. Indeed, there are similarities, and there are many of them! It is enough to look into the salon to understand this. The dashboard seems to have been taken over from the Mercedes - no differences! However, something is worth remembering. The W220 is a car that was produced primarily for passenger comfort. That is, it was assumed that businessmen and serious persons, accompanied by a personal driver, would ride it. And the dashboard, respectively, was made as ergonomic and practical as possible. That is, more emphasis was placed on the comfort of passengers. And all the work was put into creating maximum amenities in the back row. But "Maybach" is positioned as a car for the driver. But inside it is the same W220. Which is not very clear. This point should have been thought through.

True, the equipment is decent. There is everything - climate and cruise controls, heated cooling, seat adjustment and massage, and much more. By the way, there are also rugs made of sheepskin. A real exclusive! As, in fact, a powerful audio system with speakers in the amount of 21 pieces.

Specifications

Another topic that I would like to touch on. This car boasts a V-shaped supercharged 12-cylinder engine, the volume of which is as much as 5.5 liters. Power is 550 horsepower! One hundred kilometers carreaches in 5.2 seconds.

The “luxury” modification (which is known as “S”) has a bi-turbo, six-liter power unit. And the power, respectively, is greater - as many as 612 “horses”. It accelerates to “weave” in five seconds. All power units boast a timing chain drive, as well as 3 valves for each of the cylinders. Transfers are switched at the expense of a 5-band "machine". In general, the car is not one of the weak - and this is not surprising. German manufacturers have always been able to make powerful and fast cars. By the way, the maximum speed is 250 km/h, but this is still electronically limited.

Cost

And finally, a few words about the price of this car. In those years when Maybach just came out, its minimum cost was 475 thousand euros! Although initially, as mentioned above, it was planned that it would cost 400,000. The maximum configuration then cost buyers 560,000 euros. Just think, because this is more than 48 million rubles for today's exchange rate! But even then the car was not particularly bought. And by the way, the car is liquid. The cost fell only after the model was discontinued. That is, quite recently.

Although now if you search for ads, you can find this model (moreover, a recent release, somewhere in 2008) for about 20 million rubles. In Russia, at least, there are three or four such proposals.
