Proper operation of the car depends not only on the operating conditions, but also on the fuel used in the vehicle. In order to eliminate excessive slagging of the engine, several stages of fuel purification are used. In passenger cars, a fine fuel filter is installed, the replacement of which must be carried out in a timely manner, according to the schedule for the technical inspection of the car.
Heavy-duty vehicles such as GAZ and ZIL are equipped with a sediment filter. This is a preliminary coarse cleaning, which helps to get rid of large particles larger than 0.05 mm. The sump filter is located between the tank and the pump. The same filter is used to pre-clean diesel fuel.
The sump consists of a body with a special glass, which is attached to the base of the tank with bolts through a gasket. Installed inside the glassfilter, which is assembled from plates of low density. As a rule, it is aluminum or brass. Plates are made with 0.05 mm protrusions and holes to allow fuel to pass through the filter.
Protrusions are necessary in order to create additional slots between the plates through which fuel passes, while large impurities are retained and sink to the bottom of the sump. Filtered fuel is discharged through fittings to the fuel pump.
After the fuel has been freed from large particles, it must pass through fine filters. This is necessary in order to prevent small impurities and water from entering the engine. The fine fuel filter is located between the pump and the carburetor.
Structurally, it is made of a body with special fittings that serve to supply and remove fuel. In the lower part of the housing, through a gasket that is immune to the effects of gasoline, a sludge cup is fixed. It houses a fine fuel filter, which is made of a ceramic or brass mesh element with a spring.
The pressure pump delivers fuel through the fittings. Gasoline is lowered into the sump, in which separation takes place. Thus, water and impurities are separated from gasoline, and the purified liquid passes further through the fuel fine filter. Here, thanks to the elements of the device, the final separation is carried out, and the pipeline leads to a special float chamber.
The vehicle's fuel system must besealed. Do not allow air, third-party liquids, dust and other abrasive particles to enter. Filters should be changed periodically or cleaned of accumulated slag. In this case, all connections are made with a special tool, and gaskets made of gasoline-resistant material should be used at the junctions. Otherwise, the fuel will corrode the gasket, it will begin to decompose, and the tightness will be broken.
It is recommended to refuel the vehicle from trusted companies. Saving on fuel quality will negatively affect the condition of the engine, and repairs will cost even more. At the same time, it is necessary to service the car in a timely manner, since even the best fuel does not exclude slagging.

Coarse fuel filter: characteristic, device, resource
As you know, the fuel system of modern cars is very picky about the quality of fuel. And this concerns not only the octane number, but also its banal purity. After all, dirty fuel can significantly harm a car engine. Therefore, in order to prevent a sudden breakdown, the car has a coarse fuel filter. "Kamaz" is also equipped with them. What is this element? How often to change the fuel filter? All this and more in our article
