Few cars can shake the air with the roar of their engines and rich exhaust sounds. There are few such machines, but they exist. And in this article we will tell you about the legendary muscle car from the American automaker, whose car almost flew in the vastness of the North American continent. It's about the Plymouth Hemi Cuda. What is immediately worth mentioning is the history of this car, which, by the way, is already very rich. Let's get started.

In 1964, just two weeks before the release of the well-known and in the current circles of motorists Ford Mustang, Plymouth released its new brainchild - the Plymouth Barracuda model. It was equipped with a six- or eight-cylinder engine with a power output of 145 to 235 horsepower. Further, the model was updated several times, new types of bodies and engines were added. And, finally, in 1968, the company managed to create the very ideal that they tried to embody in the first released car. The car received a sporty outline and the most powerful engine in the history of "pony cars" - an 8-cylinder engine with a volume of 7.2 liters. However, due to the rather limited circulation, it neverachieved fame. This situation was to be corrected by a new muscle car, released in 1970 and called the Plymouth Hemi Cuda. This model has acquired a considerable set of motors, among which was the very unsurpassed 426th HEMI.

In 1970, only 14 convertibles were fitted with the HEMI engine, which are staggeringly expensive today, but more on that later. So, these "animals" were equipped with a 6.9-liter engine, the power of which reached 500 horsepower (for comparison, we can cite the modern Audi R8 sports car, capable of developing a power of "only" 420 horsepower). The car itself was equipped with a Torqueflite automatic transmission, massive rims and much, much more. The interior of the car did not stand out in any way among the muscle cars of that time: leather everywhere, a huge steering wheel, sports seats, a large instrument panel.

Plymouth Cuda is very popular with street racers and professional racers because of the possibility of forcing the engine in "garage" conditions, and also thanks to the tuning of this handsome man. An interesting fact: the car accelerated to hundreds in 3.4 seconds, and covered half a kilometer in just over 10 seconds. For this reason, he was immediately chosen by drag racers. Here it is, Plymouth Hemi Cuda! For its manufacturer, by the way, the car became a real salvation, because due to good sales, it alleviated the crisis state of the company, which Plymouth got into in the 1970s.

Now it should be said about the cost of the car. A 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda has been listed on eBay for a fantastic price of $2 million. But even so, there were plenty of buyers for it. Of course, the fact that the car was formerly owned by actor John Schneider, known for the movie "Dukes Go To Hollywood", played its part. In honor of this, the car even got autographs from the cast and crew. However, this is not an isolated case. The same car was sold at a Barrett-Jackson auction a couple of years ago for 2,160,000 greenbacks. As you can see, Plymouth Cuda is not so easy to buy, because this car is only for true fans of muscle cars. It complicates the purchase and limited edition of cars, but all the same auctions still have the opportunity to purchase this American dream.
