The most popular engine was the turbocharged 3-liter DOHC, which produced 263 horsepower. Toyota Supra 2 remained the fastest car until the introduction of the Skyline GTR from the Japanese company Nissan.

Cars were produced with such engines until 1991, they were replaced by 1JZ-GTE, with a capacity of 276 horsepower. Along with the regular roof, there were Supra 70 models with a removable hard top.

In 1992, the 70th series went into oblivion, and its place was taken by the JZA80 version, which, with a 2JZ-GTE engine with a capacity of 330 "horses", perfectly accepted tuning and refinement. A year later, the version was restyled. The car began to be produced on the Z30 Soarer chassis (many knew it as the Lexus SC300/400).
