So, if you take the Izh Planet Sport 350, then it is recognized as a middle-class motorcycle for sports and tourist trips on roads with a variety of surfaces, alone, as well as with a passenger. It was produced by the Izhevsk plant in the period 1974-1985

The motorcycle was very different from its counterparts, both structurally and externally. After all, in appearance it was very similar to the Japanese motorcycles of the 60s.

The technical and structural level of the motorcycle was so high that it was exported to several socialist countries. There he competed with motorcycles MZ and Java.

Although serial production of Izh Planet Sport began in 1974, the first experimental 500 cars were produced from June to September 1975. At that moment it cost 1200 rubles.

The motorcycle was kept on the assembly line until 1985, after which it was removed from production. But the first Izh Planet Sport 350 were highly valued among motorcyclists. They cost more even after ten years of operation.

Technically, the motorcycle is “stuffed” with parts (besides some small things),which differed from the spare parts of the rest of the Izh motorcycles. For the first time in this model, a separate engine lubrication system was used. The Izh Planet Sport engine had a working volume of 340 cm3 with a piston diameter of 76 mm. It even came with a Japanese-made Mikuni carburetor that allowed it to push 32 horsepower (6,700 rpm).

Therefore, a single motorcycle with a dry weight of 135 kg produced a specific power of 237 hp/ton (while the Java-350/634 only 141 hp/ton). In this regard, Izh Planet Sport has such high characteristics. It reaches acceleration to 100 kilometers per hour in eleven seconds. At the same time, the engine was fixed in the frame with rubber pads, which was a technical novelty of that time.

The first batch was produced with Japanese-made Denso electrical equipment, thanks to which, for the first time, the increased requirements for lighting equipment of the Soviet engineering industry (UNECE) were applied. The front wheel, which had a size of 3, 0x19, was also different in this model.

Later issues of Izh Planet Sport were equipped with domestic K-62M carburetors with a smaller diffuser diameter, so the power dropped to 28 hp. Such models are distinguished by an elongated rear wing and a curved muffler, which was straight at first.

Since 1979, Planet Sport has been gradually getting rid of imported spare parts, which improved the quality of the entire car. Therefore, the motorcycle and spare parts for it began to cost much cheaper. As you know, for quality you needoverpay.

On the basis of Planet-Sport in April 1975, they began to produce a sports motorcycle Izh M-15 and a cross modification Izh-K-15.

Soviet-era motorcyclists called Izh Planet Sport by the nickname "Dog". It was also rumored that due to its high quality it was exported to the USA.

Therefore, it was this motorcycle that was often subjected to real motor tuning. Its cylinder was bored under the piston of the Muscovite M-412 or under the "CheZet" (500 tikubovy). This is how Planets Sport 500 was born - a work of tuners of those years.
