The GAZ 3307 truck (popularly known by the nickname "Lawn") was put into production at the end of 1989. It is produced to this day. During this considerable period of time, many models and modifications of machines were built on its basis, including the Valdai GAZ, which had a "Lazon" frame and a "Gazelle" cabin. In fact, model 3307 was the fourth generation of the legendary GAZON, whose history dates back to the distant 60s.
Initially, the GAZ 3307 was designed as a medium-duty flatbed truck. There were also modifications with isothermal bodies. The novelty has replaced the GAZ 53, which seems to have been produced for ages. Despite the fact that the new model was developed and put into production back in 1989, the final withdrawal from production of the 53rd model took place only in 1993.year.
GAZ 3307 - payload characteristics
Like its predecessor, the novelty had high ground clearance and could be used on almost any road, even in the field. The carrying capacity was slightly higher - 4.5 tons instead of the previous four. The car provided for towing a trailer with a gross weight of 6 tons. Thus, the total carrying capacity of the machine was about 8 tons. But such a road train was practically never used anywhere, since the motor did not have enough power. For this, the ideal option was a diesel analogue - model 3309.
The basic package (the other simply does not exist) included a spacious all-metal cabin with ventilation and heating. Unlike the 53 model, the novelty can accommodate only two people. By the way, it was this truck that was the first to have a power steering installed from the assembly line (not counting the military version of the GAZ 66).
From the predecessor, the bonnet layout of the cab was borrowed. But the engineers did not do any restyling with it - it was an absolutely unique design, developed from scratch. The windshield in it was a panoramic type. The driver has the ability to control all gauges on the panel board. Now everything in the cabin is sheathed in plastic - no metal. The door had soft upholstery, and a seat belt and adjustment buttons were installed on the driver's seat. The buyer has the opportunity to choose additional equipment - pre-heater.
Small changes
The car was not divided into classifications according to comfort, but came from the factory one for everyone.
The only change was made in the 90s of the last century (then the GAZ company developed a new version of a truck equipped with a diesel engine). All other units remained the same. Soon, such a diesel version began to be mass-produced under the model 3309. First, these models were equipped with Japanese, then British engines. But the model received real recognition when they began to install the Minsk D-240 diesel engine on it. These "lawns" were actively used as city carriers of products. And even now they work at bakeries and other enterprises.
