Problems and virtues of castles

The hood lock is a great car protection. All existing devices of this type have several common characteristics and differences.

Such a lock is an important and necessary system, especially if an alarm is provided in this device. After all, when a siren closed under the hood is triggered, the attacker feels insecure. That is why hood locks are in great demand among motorists, as they provide for this trick. This zest for many of us may seem insufficiently important, however, for the car owner himself, this is a real trick.

But in addition to positive characteristics, any hood lock has its drawbacks, namely:

  • These devices need to be fine-tuned to work when they are installed. Very rarely, the operation of some model of the lock is impossible without the presence of certain additionalitems that are not included with this protection system.
  • The hood lock is equipped with a burglary resistance degree which is somewhat lower than that of transmission-type locks. The resistance indicator is 5 minutes. For gearbox locks, this figure is 15 minutes.
  • On average, hood locks, compared to transmission locks, are the eternal source of problems during the operation of the car. Especially in frosty weather.

Varieties of hood locks

Depending on the internal structure, all models of existing hood locks can be divided into two groups:

  1. Mechanical hood lock, which is an important element of car protection. You can control such a system using a key or toggle switch. This device has a simple design with a minimum number of parts. Thanks to this, the mechanical hood lock is a reliable and unpretentious vehicle protection. However, this system also has its drawbacks. The main disadvantage of a mechanical lock is inconvenience in operation. Also, this mechanism requires periodic lubrication of the drive cables. Although if the owner rarely looks under the hood of the car, then installing a mechanical hood lock is the right solution.
  2. Electromechanical hood lock

Electromechanical hood lock. This hood lock is controlled by a key fob. Also, this device can be built into the alarm system. In addition, the electromechanical type hood lock is convenient to use, asworks automatically in case of arming or disarming the car from the security system. However, at the same time, these devices are quite complex in their design and require proper installation in the vehicle protection system.

Today, many countries, including Russia, are engaged in the production of hood locks. English, French and German hood locks are the most reliable devices of this type.
