The VAZ-2109 gearbox is a complex technical mechanism, without which a car cannot move even a meter. Why is it necessary to increase the speed?
The main goal of our refinement is increased acceleration dynamics. And in order for the VAZ to fly on the roads, you must at least increase the speed of the internal combustion engine, that is, make sure that the tachometer needle is at its maximum maximum values. In principle, it is not difficult to improve the dynamic characteristics - it is enough just to modify the gear ratios of the transmission (we will consider how this is done a little lower). It is best to make the difference between them as small as possible. Thenwhen switching stages from a lower to an increased gearbox, the VAZ-2109 will not greatly infringe on engine speed - they will remain almost at the same level. Thanks to this, the motor will again have the optimal torque, which, in turn, contributes to the rapid acceleration of the car.
Of course, the developers of the "nine" themselves took into account all these points when designing the checkpoint, but still not very ideal units left the assembly line. Such a VAZ-2109 gearbox had large slips between adjacent gears. The most important defect noted by motorists is the increased wear of the 2nd stage synchronizer.
The reason for this was the same gear ratio. In general, the standard value of these indicators varies from 3.7 in first gear to 4.1 in fifth. In order to refine such a transmission and make the car dynamic, it is enough just to install tuned “pairs” with the following values in the gearbox housing:
- First gear - 4.33.
- Second - 4.5.
- Third stage - 4.7.
- Fourth - up to 5.0.
- And the fifth can reach up to 5.125.
At the same time, do not forget that the "nine" is a front-wheel drive car, and its differential is located in the transmission itself. This arrangement of the part contributes to reduced tire wear and the best maneuverability. And if you install such “pairs” in a box, there will be neither one nor the other. Therefore, in order to avoid unpleasant consequences,the differential should be changed from standard to self-locking. Then the car will be not only powerful, but also maneuverable, and you can forget about the repair of the VAZ-2109 gearbox for the next few years.
What will we end up with?
After finalizing the gear ratios, you can get a fast car that can be used not only on the highway, but also in the city. Perhaps the only drawback of such tuning is that the VAZ-2109 gearbox will not develop the car to the passport "maximum speed". Although many car owners are content with such a change in gear ratios, since the acceleration of the VAZ is comparable to any sports car. And this is already a serious indicator.
